OBITUARY

Doris London Simon, age 99, died peacefully in her sleep. She lived her life with intelligence, curiosity, kindness and generosity. Doris had a joyful outlook and was a strong believer in family traditions. Beloved wife of the late Sherwin O. Simon and sister to the late Gerald London. Cherished mother of Ardel (Richard) Fogel, Sharon (Stephen) Bayers, Lynn (William) Allison and Gregg (Rebecca) Simon. She also leaves a much-loved and adored extended family of grandchildren and their spouses and partners, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, cousins, friends and neighbors. We were privileged to have her in our lives for so long and she will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

Family and friends will gather to honor Doris's memory, Thursday August 27, 11:00AM at Temple Beth Israel, 3601 Dempster Street, Skokie. Interment to follow at Shalom Memorial Park, Arlington Heights. To live stream the service, please visit www.cjfinfo.com.

I was at Aunt Doris and Uncle Sherwins wedding when I was 4 and 1/2 years old. I remember before they were married Aunt Doris, a former teacher,
used to bring me these magazine/workbooks from her classroom. I remember going to the house on Jarvis while it was being built.
Last Passover she called me to wish a happy Pesach. I am so grateful that Fern and I got to see her just after her 99th birthday at Sharon’s house.
It always amazed me how sharp she was. Doris was an amazing lady. Passing in your sleep, what a way to go.
Doris, when you are up in heaven give Uncle Sherwin, Uncle Stanley and my mom and dad a hug and kiss.

Aunt Doris,
The plantings from the flowers from your garden that you planted when you first built Jarvis still bloom in ours every Spring. We will think of you every time they blossom.

Doris was a class act. She had a generous smile, warm heart and was so intelligent. She had the gift of making people feel special by remembering their details and asked about their lives and family. She was truly one of a kind. May her memory be for a blessing.

Doris - I am so fortunate to have met you and spend some time during Nina and Spencer’s wedding in California. I will always remember your keen mind and loving personality. I will miss you.

To the family of Doris: I'm sending you my sincere and loving condolences to you all. I am a cousin (3rd?) to Doris from the Barr side of the family. My Mother, Cele Barr Less and Doris's mom, Gert, were first cousins. Of course, I grew up knowing the London family ( Doris, Jerry,(my brother Ted Less and Jerry were very good friends),her mom and dad . Gert and Sol. I was privileged to have been able to know Doris these past 20 some years, in which we became good friends besides family.

I am the author of the (Barchash) Barr family tree. I just wanted to share a little note about the fun Doris and I had with this family tree. After I gave Doris her copy, she would call me to come over to add any new grandchildren and./or new great grands that were being added your family. Your side of the family really kept me busy!! Doris and I had some wonderful times together and good laughs keeping up withe the "tree"

I am blessed to have known and loved her
