David F. Solomon, age 80
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of David F Solomon of Highland Park, IL, beloved husband of Madeleine, nee Ruekberg, devoted father of Anna, proud grandfather of Maya, loving brother to Paul, Nancy, and the late Louis, and uncle to Scott, Jeremy, Carrie, Beverly, Herbie, and Spencer.
Everyone who knew David will recall his welcoming smile, kindness and joie de vivre, whether enjoying the traditional Chicago style hot dog or a fine vintage wine. Dave lived life to the fullest, believing that a day without fun was not a day worth living.
In addition to his love of family and friends, David’s greatest joy came from creating, writing and performing his amazing, original card magic. He mentored young brilliant thinkers and joined with his magic peers in many fruitful collaborations in Chicago and around the world. He strived to respect the history of magic and to build on the artistry and inventiveness of those who came before him.
There will be a funeral at North Suburban Synagogue Beth El, 1175 Sheridan Road, Highland Park on Friday, February 21 at 10:30 am. Burial will take place at B'Nai Zedek Cemetery, 1760 Sheridan Road in Kenosha, WI following the service.
