I've known Helene for over 15 years. I was her handyman. My first job for Helene and Alan was cleaning all of her windows, inside and out. There were many windows. There were many jobs after that, but never windows. It has always been a pleasure working for her. I always looked forward to it. We talked more than I worked (I never charged her for the talking time). I was so happy that my wife got to meet her. She felt like family. She was family. I feel privileged to have known her. I will miss her terribly.

Helene and I became instant friends when we met while pushing strollers home from Boone school, having just dropped off our 5 year old daughters at their first day of kindergarten. Inside our individual strollers were two three year old daughters. Each gal had a playmate. Helene and I played tennis, went bike riding and took classes together for our Masters degrees in special education. Helene introduced me to National Council of Education of which is am still a life Member. Helene was a happy, sharing friend who had only good things to say about others. She cherished good books, lively conversations and a loving family. I will miss my dear friend so very much..

Helene & Alan were among the first people we befriended when we moved to Evanston in 1973. Neighbors (we lived only 2 houses apart) with kids about the same ages, we got to know them & their family pretty well Although we moved away in 1995, we still got to see Helene occasionally, usually at concerts or theater. Helene was a person that was easy to befriend and like. She was always interested in what we were doing & always ready to help. She will be missed.

Helene and I became friends about 40 years ago. We just kept bumping into each other at every Chicago area Jewish event. We enrolled in the same Jewish study opportunities, and had so much in common. (Our sons also knew each other at OSRUI) . We went to every CAJE event together and talked about our favorite presenters.
We would regularly meet for lunch and recommend books to each other, as we had the same taste in literature. She made a lasting impression on those who knew her and will
Miss her in my life.

Dear Family of Helene,
Many years have passed since Helene and I sat together at our NU and AEPhi 50th Reunion.
Helene was still a "live wire" and marvelously curious friend. Years faded but the connecting was strong.
May she rest in peace and may your own memories live forever in your hearts.
Warmly, Sue Riemer Sacks

I'm so sorry for your loss. I remember Helene from my occasional visits to Kahal. She was such a devoted regular on Shabbat mornings for so very long!! And my mom, Marilyn Moss z"l, was very fond of her. They were from the same generation and background. Helen will be missed.
Warmly

I am so sorry to hear of the world’s loss of Helene. She was truly a kind and loving spirit. She was one of the backbones of our LD group. I was unable to attend our luncheon this year and unfortunately will be unable to attend the funeral, but Helene will remain in her place in my heart.

To Helene's family, I send my sincerest condolences.
As a colleague, Helene was a dedicated teacher striving to provide the best quality of education for her students. Her contributions at meetings were meaningful and spot on. She graciously shared her knowledge and experience with the members of the LD department. As a person, Helene was a spirited, jovial individual with a delightful sense of humor and a high moral compass and social conscience. It was her idea for those in the department to gather during the summer to stay connected. And we did for several years in her home then in a different member's home. She enjoyed telling stories of her family and took a sincere interest in the lives of us.
I will miss her wisdom and whit.
Warm regards,
Marsha Stern

To the family of Helene Rosenberg

Many decades ago I was privileged to have worked closely with Helene.
She was a teacher that helped students with learning disabilities and I was a social worker for district 65 in Evanston she always thoughtfully contributed ideas that would help students. Her calmness was very helpful to so many students and staff . it is with these great memories that I offer my condolences to Helene‘s family
