We feel we have lost a friend who has known us forever.
She was a friend of my husbands’ parents for many years.Joan Olesker was a Chicago friend who was a golf guru to Sylvia in
Florida and also at Pottawattomie C.C. Joan,Sylvia and Pat Hoodwin were the 3 musketeers as widows. She was at the bris services for our grandsons and helped us celebrate our 50th anniversary at a dinner. We were neighbors at the Bristol and she was a regular at the building gym with her trainer. She was chic, fun to be with and an exceptionally wise and vibrant woman who thought age was just a number. We will miss her and cherish her memory.

Sylvia Gordon was a wonderful friend despite our 40 year age difference. She was never afraid to speak her mind and always did it with love and respect. My son and I loved the happy surprise of bumping into Sylvia around Ogden Elementary. and the Gold Coast. It was very special to have Sylvia remain a part of the Olesker lives after her friend and my grandmother’s death. It was extra special to meet and socialize with her beloved Laurel, who treated her with so much love and respect. Sending love, Betsy Olesker

Sylvia was so stylish, energetic and cool! Many happy memories from the Bristol, Pottawattamie and Michiana. I feel fortunate that she was with our family for so many happy and momentous occasions. A wonderful companion to my late Grandma Joan. Celebrating her long and wonderful life! May her memory be a blessing.

No one was tougher than Silvia. As her fitness trainer for many years, I’ve had the opportunity to see her struggle and over come, time and time, again. She would get this sparkle in her eyes as if to say, watch what I can do, and then she would do it. I was privileged to hear her speak so fondly of her family, her husband, and her father, who she told me with a giant smile, called her Sis growing up. Silvia would tell me stories of how much he loved , and supported her. Silvia would tell me how her mother made it so she could follow her passions in life, and how her children were her everything. I loved listening to her stories growing up, and her charitable acts. Some years ago she told me how she was going to Australia to climb a bridge. I thought I misheard her because she was in her 80s but no, she went, and put on a harness, and climbed over a very high bridge arch with a group. Nothing stopped her when she wanted to do something. She was an amazing woman and I’m honored to have known her.
