Funeral Details

June 4, 1927 -- February 7, 2024

Stanley Talesnick lived a long, rich, and rewarding life devoted to family, friends, strongly held beliefs and ideals, and so much more. He was an Indiana Hoosier through and through. "I" for Indiana University; "I" for intention; "I" for integrity.

Stan was the third child of Rose Galerman Talesnick and Louis Talesnick, who preceded him in death. Also preceding him were his beloved sister Helen Talesnick Fichman and brother Irvin Talesnick, and their spouses. Stan also mourned the death of baby grandson Jeremy Louis Wilkins; his second wife, Claudia Ferrell Talesnick, and his longtime late-in-life partner Ruth Kubersky Feinberg.
Stan graduated from Shortridge High School at age 16 and matriculated to Indiana University. World War II Intervened and he protected the shores of the United States as a naval officer stationed in New Jersey. After the war Stan graduated from IU and IU law school (with a minor in bridge!).

Stan and his long-time partner at law, David Kleiman, merged their firm with Dann Pecar Newman. During his many years with that firm, Stan grew to be the go-to bankruptcy expert.

Stan and his first wife, Joan Goldstone Talesnick, had three daughters: Jill Thornton (Charlie), Jane Talesnick, Kay Talesnick (Patrick McGerty).

His second wife, Claudia, enriched Stan's life with her three young children: Greg Skillman (Carmela), Stacia Skillman, Scott Skillman.

Stan's involvement and passionate love for the Indianapolis Jewish community spanned his entire life. He served on many boards in leadership positions including the Indianapolis Hebrew Congregation and the Jewish Federation of Greater Indianapolis, where he led several fundraising campaigns. Stan's service to the Jewish community in Indianapolis, as well as projects in Israel are among his lasting achievements.

Stan welcomed 13 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren into his big heart: Brian Wilkins (Shannon); Elliott Wilkins; Keren Wasserman; Adi Wasserman; Emily Gilmore; Claire Gilmore (Dave Matthew); Bridget Gilmore; David Skillman (Sarah Cox); Maria Skillman (James Patteson); Alivia Skillman; Jaydon Skillman; Fia Skillman; Izaak Skillman; Eleanor Wilkins; Henry Wilkins; Riley Matthew; Della Skillman.

Personal responsibility, spirited debate, hard work, and charity exemplify the legacy Stan leaves to his children, grandchildren, and his dearly loved nieces and nephews: Nancy Shorr (Arthur); Lynne Savage; Alan Talesnick (Gayle); Steve Talesnick.

The Talesnick family appreciates the dedication of Stan's many caregivers, as they each helped to improve the quality of his life during these past few years.
