I wish I could have known Yaira z"l, who had thought her children such special Jewish and human values for life. We have the luck to have Yossi and Sarah in our young and growing community in Mazjeret Batia, Israel, for the last 3-4 years, and we strongly few that we have gain all the good things that Yaira and Jack z"l have given to their children in life time. May her soul rest in peace and the loving memories of this wonderful couple, be kept in the mind and hearts of you.

Yaira and I have been part of an extended family for years, except that with Yaira there was no "extended", you were just family. I will miss her bright smile, and her kindness. May her memory be for a blessing. Much love.

Since Rabbi Yaakov G. Rosenberg fortuitously introduced Yaira and Jack to my parents [Greta and Roman] in 1975 when both families' paths crossed in the Philadelphia area, our four parents together have provided us all with an incredible model for devoted friendship and care through all the highs and lows of time and history. For nearly five decades, Yaira and Greta have stood together (as did Jack and Roman in their -- alas -- shorter lifetimes) and have been there for one another as family. Although their Boston accents faded (to varying degrees), their loving devotion as friends has grown stronger and stronger and will transcend their lifetimes through the the recall of both happy memories and their responses to the challenges they faced together. May current and future generations be guided, illuminated and ever nourished by the blessings of such steadfast friendship and continue to know and propagate the lessons provided by the exemplary ways in which they gave of themselves to each other and to their families.

Jonathan, Carly: Frank and the kids join me in sending you love and condolences. We feel so fortunate to have you in our family, Jonathan, and that includes Yai. It's such a great gift in life to have a wonderful mom. Even from afar, we will miss her. Of course she will rest in peace. Again, our hearts are with you, and all the Shapiros. Lots of love, Susan and Frank, Joe and David and Erica

What a special woman your mother was! I am grateful that I got to know more about her by listening in on the funeral. It validated what I already knew from my brief relationship with her back in the 70s. She was always warm and welcoming to me as Yossi's friend. And then we developed a relationship of our own. I met her a few times for lunch in downtown Philly. I think she took me to an ethnic restaurant that served perogies, to which she introduced me. I also brought my printing to her store and was so impressed with her entrepreneurial endeavor!

She was a gem and knowing Yossi as I do, and having known Beth for a brief stint at Penn, it's always been clear where they got their kindness and integrity. If I knew Jon directly, I'm sure I would say the same about him.

Wishing you all much consolation in the coming months.

My thoughts are with you today. I've known Yaira for as long as we've both lived at Lincolnwood Place. We had a lot of fun on our outings. We went to concerts and symphonies. We ate dinner together, almost every night. I am very sad and I will miss her.

So sorry to hear about Yi. She was very kind to me when I visited Oyster Bay as a teenager and I enjoyed their (Jack and Yi) company as an adult when they visited San Diego. Take care.
