Marlene was a wonderful neighbor who made me feel welcome when I moved in across the hall from her. We often met in the hallway during the winter months, when we would take our walks safe from the freezing weather. I admired her optimistic and energetic outlook on life. She is already sorely missed. My deepest condolences to her family.

I am a first cousin to Marv and knew Marlene since they were married. I have not seen or spoken with her for at least 10 years but prior to that there are many family memories. Marlene was quite a person, I had the opportunity to play a few rounds of golf with her at the old Sportsmans in Northbrook and had many laughs. My heart felt sympathies to the entire family. I met Marlene 4 years ago outside of the Temple library at Temple Beth-El. I was playing Mahjong in the library. When it was my turn to sit out, I went out in the hall where Marlene had been pacing back and forth for a while. I asked her if she needed my help. She was trying to figure out how to play Mahjong at the Temple. I told her that I would add her to the list of players so that she would receive an e-mail from me every Sunday and she just needed to reply whether she would play the next Tuesday if she replied "yes". She said she would think about it. I went on to see her at Temple sisterhood events that were led by her daughter-in-law, Marcy. When we had a sisterhood game night she hugged me and asked me to play with her. I told her that I was part of a foursome that was planning to play Mahjong. When she told me she had not become part of a foursome I had her come with me and got her together with 3 ladies who also were waiting to be assigned to a table. They told Marlene that she was welcome to play with them. I introduced her to the 3 ladies and she thanked me for getting her people to play with. I have seen her and greeted her at many sisterhood events. I will miss her. We had some nice talks about her life.

Marlene was an amazing sweet friend for the years that we lived next door in Des Plaines,Illinois. and we were lucky to be able to share in Marvin’s friendship, your wonderful dad also.. I truly loved her and she will be greatly missed. Once we moved to California we lost our connection and didn’t talk. I lost Marlenes friendship. I will always regret that..
