Mary Frances Farrell (nee Unger)
“Optimism Personified”
Old in years- young at heart.
Grew up in northern suburbs- attended New Trier High School & Northwestern University. Mother of Jeffrey Mackevich (deceased) Marietta Hesdorffer (Jay) Nancy Glazer (Barry) & Lynn Farrell Otis. Blessed with 8 grandchildren (Rani, Stephanie, Carrie, David, Melanie, Dana, Sami, Tracy). Wife of Robert Farrell (deceased) & significant compatriot of Gerald Maatman (deceased). Best friend of Evelyn Alter for 63 years.
Privileged to be part of Ray Vogue College of Design (23 years) & Director of Fashion. Produced 14 student fashion shows- one nominated for a Chicago EMMY. Active in Lake Forest politics, decorative artist (Painted to Please) & plein air watercolorist. Tutor for Reading Power. Many friends added & supported her life. A smile was her trademark. Mary never knew what she couldn’t do. She loved her family, friends, students & was always open to opportunity.
