OBITUARY
Arlene Coustan nee Nechin, 86.
Beloved wife of the late Harvey L. Coustan. Loving mother of Rabbi Andrea (Danny) London, Charles (Hillary) Coustan, Liz Coustan and the late Brad (Helene) Coustan. Proud grandmother of Yonah, Liora, Eli, Ari, Maya, Aden, Victor and Ava. Dear sister of Herbert (the late Roberta) Nechin. Arlene was born and lived most of her life in the Chicago area. She was a graduate of Northwestern University and George Williams College where she received a master’s degree in social work. Arlene was an avid and talented athlete. She got her varsity letter in cheerleading at Sullivan High School and excelled at softball, tennis, snow skiing, and yoga. She continued to slalom waterski around Paw Paw Lake in Michigan into her 70s. Arlene was a private practice psychotherapist with many devoted clients. As a mother and grandmother, she rarely missed cheering at a concert, performance, or sporting event. Married to Harvey Coustan for 52 years, they always tore up the dance floor at family simchas. They loved traveling, having adventures together, and especially enjoyed relaxing at their vacation home in Coloma, Michigan with family and friends. Service Monday 10AM at Chicago Jewish Funerals, 8851 Skokie Blvd (at Niles Center Road), Skokie. Interment Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Beth Emet The Free Synagogue, 1224 W. Dempster Street, Evanston, IL 60202, www.bethemet.org.
