OBITUARY
Charles Louis Kite
April 20, 1962 – August 24, 2022
Charles (Chuck) Louis Kite died in Chicago, IL on August 24, 2022 after a short illness. He was 60.
A proud and lifelong Chicagoan, Chuck was born on April 20, 1962. Raised in a traditional Jewish home by his late parents Robert and Isabelle (Edith) Kite, Chuck spent his young years being educated at Hebrew School, Gale Elementary, and Sullivan High School, participating in Boy Scouts and Key Club, and generally making mischief on the streets of Rogers Park with his late big brother Bruce Kite and a diverse group of friends.
After a year at Loyola University, Chuck transferred to Columbia College Chicago where he earned a degree in Film and Video in 1985. He went on to work in the fields of film and animation production and media education. In his forties, Chuck made a mid-life career change, returning to school to become a Registered Dietician in 2013. As Chuck often noted, in his early career he made commercials for sugary cereals that he later advised his patients to eat in moderation. Eventually earning a master’s degree in Nutrition from Dominican University in 2021, Chuck was committed to providing diabetes and nutrition education to people in underserved communities throughout Chicago.
Chuck found his greatest joy in making others laugh. He studied improvisational comedy at Chicago’s Second City and applied the principle of “yes and” on stage and in life. He will be remembered for his zany humor, willingness to perform spontaneously anytime and anywhere, and ability to keep young children endlessly entertained. Chuck also loved science fiction (especially Star Wars) and cooking (always without a recipe and often with disastrous results).
Chuck will always be loved as the devoted husband of his wife of 15 years, Eva Silverman; fun uncle to Charlie and Rain Kite and to Eli and Asa Silverman; an attentive son-in-law to Lizzy Silverman; a dear brother-in-law to Tracey Kite and Andy Glick and to Dan Silverman and Jennet Kirkpatrick; a favorite cousin to many extended family members; and a loyal buddy to friends old and new. A private service was held. Donations in memory of Chuck can be made online to WTTW at bit.ly/3B0jDRn or by mail at: WTTW, Attn: Development, 5400 North St. Louis Ave., Chicago, IL 60625. Many thanks to Northwestern Memorial Hospital staff for their dedication and compassionate care. Arrangements by Chicago Jewish Funerals - Skokie Chapel, 847.229.8822, www.cjfinfo.com.
