OBITUARY

Lon Goodman, age 69

Beloved husband of Kim Goodman. Dear father of Chase Goodman. Loving son of the late Lionel and Lorretta Goodman. Proud uncle of Abbie Kolber and Karly Kolber. Cherished friend of Brad Martin, Mark Glatt, Dave Weissbaum and Russel Rosen.

Lon was a prominent businessman and longtime owner of a currency exchange, a man whose life revolved around hard work and providing for his family. He was devoted, dependable, and always there — rarely taking a day off, driven by a deep sense of responsibility and purpose. Supporting his loved ones was not just what he did; it was who he was.

Only after his illness was he finally able to slow down and spend more meaningful time with his son, moments that became especially cherished. Losing his business was one of the most painful experiences of his life, a loss that weighed heavily on him and deeply affected his spirit. Even through those struggles, he remained a loving man whose dedication to his family never wavered.

Memorial service Tuesday, 2 PM at Chicago Jewish Funerals, 195 N. Buffalo Grove Road (One block north of Lake Cook Road), Buffalo Grove. Interment Private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to TACA – The Autism Community in Action, 17752 Sky Park Cir, Ste 140, Irvine, California 92614, www.tacanow.org. Lon was a cousin to me. I remember visiting him at his parent’s home in Lincolnwood, as well as his Bar Mitzvah, and party celebrated at the Purple Hyatt. His parents taught him his characteristic quiet kindness. May Lon’s memory be for a blessing.

My family grew up with all the Goodman’s and we have wonderful family memories. Lon was a quiet kind giant of a man. I am certain he will be missed by all-especially his sister, Leslie and brother in law, Scott. Rest well old friend

To my dear friend and neighbor who always called me "Buddy", when we would talk. During the past several months we had health issues, but we talked about this spring/summer we'll be better and have a refreshment together. Well Lon that will have to wait, so save me a spot at your table in heaven and we'll celebrate then.

Wow... hearing the news of Lon's passing has truly saddened me. I've known Lon since I was a child. My family did business at the currency for many many years, then I grew up and became an employee there. He was truly a one of a kind boss, the definitely looked at for the community. Sending my sincerest condolences and prayers to Kim and the rest of the family.
