Mom left a big impression on my life that was profound over time . In my pre teen years mom took me to the bank in New City and help me open my first bank account. I was very ambitious and mom had me save half of all I made for my future. This turned into a lifetime habit still with me today. Mom always talked about my Aunt Lilly’s relative the brother of her husband Hyman who was not a great student but worked hard at school to become a paediatrician no coincidence I became a chiropractor. Mom encouraged me in the arts took us to see art and history. Mom had me take up music with the clarinet and I remember going to the lake in the summer doing basket weaving. I ended up enjoying photography and we had a darkroom in the basement at night. Mom volunteered at a local place where I did patterning with her on physical disabled children. Considering mom’s humble beginnings she went out of her way to always have a house of our own which she decorated beautifully. Mom could always see the gem is a pile of coal and would take an old piece of furniture and give it new life. Mom volunteered as a docen at the art museum always enjoyed art. Mom had many paintings and one day years ago she asked me which I liked, then a few years ago a huge box the size of a VW arrived here in Australia with all my favourite pieces that are on display in our home. Mom would take us to Doodle Town in the summer to visit her old friends from when she was a girl. One house was filled with antiques had no electricity and the fridge used a gas flame at the bottom to keep things cold inside I never could understand how that worked until I grew up. I was lucky to have such a caring mom. I will miss you mom.

My Mom , Blanche Mizrahi was the most loving selfless and caring mother a son could hope to have. Mom worked tirelessly to give her children a Jewish education and a beautiful home for which I will be forever grateful. Nothing was more important to Mom than enriching the lives of her children which she pursued with endless sacrifice. Mom loved the arts, making jewelry and being a docent at the museum. I am thankful for the comfort my sister Nina was able to provide Mom with in her final years.
