OBITUARY

Milton “Mickey” Jack Jaffe, age 94

Beloved husband of Cheri, (nee Mock). Dear father of John (May), Samantha, Sophia and the late Laney and Jeff. Cherished grandfather of Jill (Ian) Grunes, Carly (Jon) Linton, Taylor Jaffe and Dale Jaffe. Proud great-grandfather of Laney, Jack, Henry and Olivia. Dear brother of the late Rochelle. He will be missed by many other cherished family members and friends, so many of whom now reside on the west coast. Mickey was born in Chicago, attended Senn High School, graduated from University of Illinois and was headmaster of his Sigma Alpha Mu fraternity. He was a well-respected leader in the auto parts industry his whole life and traveled the globe in style attending many industry sponsored events, including major racing events, the Olympics and Super Bowls. Mickey was an avid sports fan at all levels, college and professional, and was a Chicago season ticket holder for the Cubs, Bears, Bulls, and Blackhawks for over 50 years. He was an athlete himself holding the City of Chicago high school broad jump record for 20 years. Even more, Mickey was a devoted family man who was generous with his time and support of his loved ones, and his love was felt deeply. He was lucky to have lived a long and prosperous life that we all could hope for, and he will be greatly missed. Memorials in his name can be made to any Parkinson’s or breast cancer charity or to LUNGevity Foundation, 228 South Wabash, Suite 700, Chicago, Illinois 60604, www.lungevity.org. Sami is one of my high school best friends, I spent a lot of time at her house during those 4 years. Mr. Jaffe will live in my memory as a kind and warm man who always welcomed me into his home with open arms. So many moments during that time are rushing back to me and I will cherish them forever. Sending my deepest love to the whole Jaffe family. I will miss you so very much, Mr. Jaffe❤️

Mickey and I were co-workers at Maremont Corporation in Chicago. Our relationship started in 1968 when I joined Maremeont in their automotive division. Apex, which was an automotive distribution company that was purchased by Maremont. The company was managed by Bernard Sweet and Mickey Jaffe whos families were the principal owners. Eventually, it became apparent that Mickey could help Maremont's automotive division grow by transferring there and reporting directly to the division president Richard B. Black. This turned out to be an excellent move for the company. Eventually, Mickey's life long love for automotive distribution took over and he returned to managing Apex with his uncle Bernard. My working relationship with Mickey lasted for many years both as a co-worker and customer and didn't terminate with his memorable retirement party. We continued to stay in touch and had occasional get togethers when I was in Chicago. Mickey was a personable, hard working, friendly, generous and devoted family man. My condolences to his many friends and family. He will be greatly missed.

My memory of Mickey goes back more than 55 years when he and my dad, Les Copeland (who knew Mickey through business) would take Laney and me to hockey games. After I got married and my husband, Larry joined the auto parts business, he had a relationship with Mickey. We attended his retirement party and will remember him fondly. Sending our condolences to the family

I met Mickey at Mars Resort on Lake Como, wi. He wad talking to some people about the house he was building on Snake rd. up here. I remarked that I loved that house and had gone through it. He got a kick out of that as he hadn't quite moved in yet. My husband and I developed a relationship with Mickey and Cheri. They were wonderful people, he gave my husband Cubs tickets many times. He was so excited when Samantha was born.
The Czarnecki family sends love and sympathy to Cheri and their family!! We have spoken of your family many times over the years!💓
