The raggedy sun,
tired and
plumb wore out,
finally sat down
way in the west,
and called for
the stars who came
by covered wagon
and jet plane
in the curtain
of night, waiting
to hear the next
story of how
the earth once
was an idyllic
place with soft
green grass and
the perfume
of a
million flowers.
