To be interviewed by Joan for a story was to experience the meaning of thorough! She was unwaveringly committed to getting her story and telling it well. So sorry to see this news. May her memory be for a blessing.

I am so sorry for your loss. I have such fond memories of your mother both when I was a child playing with Micky and when I was an adult occasionally staying with her in her condo. She was always so kind and welcoming to me and I will miss her greatly. BDE

As part of Joan's Tuesday cancer support group, I only knew her briefly during the last phase of her life. After watching the beautiful service, I wished that I had known Joan earlier. We knew her fierce determination to get better, but I wish we had the time to really get to know her. My sincere condolences to her family and friends.

Mindy’s eulogy brought tears to our eyes and a flood of precious memories. The two of you, Yael and Ariella, “Ariella and Elli-Belli,” (sorry Michael, you weren’t around yet) were born five weeks after Yaffa. The first sweet years of our parenthood were shared with your parents in your first Skokie home. I can’t count the number of Shabbatot we spent there (we became “honorary members of Or Torah) as we watched the three of you grow and develop from infants to toddlers. We remember your mom, z”l, sitting on the couch reading to you both even before either of you could hold a book in your hands. We were all younger then (you guys were younger than us!) and maybe that why the times seemed simpler.
Ivonne and I will always remember your mom fondly and for the many good times and laughs we shared. Yehi zichra baruch.
