OBITUARY

Alec Zachary Wise, 28

Beloved son of Lyn and Robert Wise. Loving brother of Jake and Jeremy. Cherished grandson of Morton and Naomi Becker, Bette and Larry Wise. Dear nephew of Amy and Richard Wise, Scott Becker, Jami Becker and Glenn Zweig, Jeff Wise and Eric West. Fond cousin of Chloe, Bobby, Aidan, Ellie, Julia, Toby, Justin, Joshua and Mayah. Alec died peacefully at the Highland Park Hospital in the early hours of March 18th. He passed after battling a brain tumor in which he was diagnosed in May of 2019. Alec was born on August 8, 1992 in Chicago, IL. Alec was a proud alumnus of Braeside Elementary School, Edgewood Middle School, Highland Park High School, and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Alec graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with a degree in accounting and finance. Alec was also a beloved brother of the Sigma Alpha Mu Rho Chapter on campus. During his time at school, Alec excelled academically and made many lifelong friends. After graduation, Alec began his career as an Investment Banking Analyst at BMO Capital Markets and then as an Associate at Frontenac. Alec ended his career as an Associate at DOM Capital Group where he targeted investments in the food and beverage industry. Alec was an avid lover of sports, both playing and watching. His love of sports led him to spend 10 years as a camper and a counselor at Camp Horseshoe in Rhinelander, WI. Alec grew up playing competitive basketball and baseball. His love of the Chicago White Sox, Fighting Illini, and Chicago Bears will live on forever. Most importantly, Alec was a role model to his two younger brothers and many younger cousins. He was a loving son and a friend to many. No matter what he did, Alec always displayed the highest levels of strength, courage, bravery, and confidence. These traits were highlighted during his fight with cancer. He truly did not give up until the very end. Alec will never be forgotten by the people that got the chance to know him and forever will live in the hearts of many.

I was fortunate to meet Alec (and Lyn) in Germany while we were visiting the geneticist w/ whom we were both working. I then connected w/ him by phone and we remained in contact until his recent passing. With our unfortunate common ground, we also found truth and reality quickly which helped us connect and make the most of our conversations. He certainly offered me comfort while he was fearful and grieving, a reflection of his courage and who he must have been to so many.

I will continue battling and helping others impacted by this disease; always with Alec's spirit and memory in my mind and heart. Our family is holding your family very close and hoping that each day you are touched by memories of Alec that help you through the loss and grief.
