Dearest family and friends,

We gather today to celebrate the life of Paw Paw, a life lived fully in the spirit of giving. Paw Paw lived a long and full life, and the common thread throughout was his generosity of spirit, his unwavering support, and his profound love for all of us.

In the Talmud, it is said of Rav Yochanon ben Zakai that one of the reasons for his long life was that he never called anyone by a nickname, so careful was he to avoid even the slightest potential for hurt. This sensitivity to the feelings of others, this deep-seated empathy, was how Paw Paw lived his life as well, and it is a lesson we can all carry forward.

Paw Paw had a unique gift for making each person feel seen and valued. I will always remember the personalized birthday cards he wrote for me every year, each one a treasure reflecting his thoughtfulness and care. He embraced everyone, accepting their choices and supporting their dreams with boundless love.

Paw Paw's legacy is one of kindness, acceptance, and unwavering love. Let us honor his memory by emulating his example, by striving to be as sensitive, as supportive, and as loving as he was to each and every one of us.

He will be deeply missed, but his memory will forever be a blessing.

With love and remembrance,

David J Greene
