The Shepsle and Litman families were very close back when Jeff and Neal were youngsters in Takoma Park,Maryland. We shared good times and bad, big events and simple everyday activities when life was built around one’s neighborhood. We lived just a block away and our moms probably saw or at least talked to each other almost daily. Although my brother, called Kenny at the time, my sister, Alida and I were friends with the Litman boys, our parents were besties, particularly our moms, Ruth Litman and Edythe Shepsle. After the Litman family moved to Chicago and then later when Alida moved there, she kept the relationship going with Ruth,Bob and with Jeff who was nearby. We hope to keep Jeff’s memory alive ,particularly when we three siblings get together and ultimately wax into our childhood memories.

So sad to not hear from my friend Jeff after so many years of friendship that goes back generations. Very little to add to my sister's entry about the Litman/Shepsle saga.
As Neal recently put it, we were each other's very first playmate. There was daily silliness from the two of us--- not always appreciated by our older siblings. A wonderful quirk of fate and I happened to follow the Litman's to Chicago when first married. Reacquainted with our family friends I was welcomed to Neal's and to Jenna's weddings. And was
happy to meet Paula and see her seamlessly welcomed into the Litman clan. I especially enjoyed their proximity to the north side when they moved to Northbrook.
Kenneth, Carol and I --with our families--will gather in force for a Chicago Thanksgiving. Bells will ring when we fondly remember Jeff and our life long friendship
