I remember the first time I met you, I ordered pizza working at Hobe Sound Manors Assisted Living. The delivery went to the SNF, as I walked over to pay, a man with a hat said I will pay, I asked you not too, but you did anyway. As I went back to the ALF I told my administrator an older man bought our pizza, not knowing she already knew whom I was speaking of. I have known Reb Moshe or Morry as we all called him for 60 years. I came to the Skokie Yeshiva in the summer of 1962 to spend a month in their summer program (before Yeshivas Hakayitz). Morry had just returned from Keren B'yavneh where he had been learning in Eretz yisrael and there was a friendly baseball game going on Bain Hasdarim in the yeshiva ball field.

As the story goes Morry was playing 3rd base in the game. The batter on the opposing team struck out (I believe) and in doing so uttered some improper words of disgust. Well Morry charged the plate at that point and rushed up to the batter and yelled at him for using such words in the course of the game. Ever since that time throughout the years as we spoke to each other this story echoed in my mind. Yes Morry could have fun but to a point, if he felt something you said or did was not right he would let you know about it. He never forgot anything and his love for his close chaverim could not be matched by anyone. I remember so vividly his love for Rabbi Irwin Giffin Z"L. One could not love a brother more than his love for his good chaver. When Irwin's health was beginning to fail he did whatever he could to be there for him until the very end. His love for his wife Mindy and family never ended. This was Morry he cherished and lived friendship. His love for his Rabbeim was foremost and he would constantly do whatever he could to assist his rabbeim in so many ways financially and personally. He was always fond of telling me every time we met in later times, "Do you remember the time that we both lained a parsha together in the yeshiva when there was no Baal Koreh that week". He truly never forgot anything.
I am proud to call him my chaver for 60 years. It is a friendship I will cherish all my life, Ad Bias Hagoel.

Morris Esformes was a gentlemen’s gentleman. He always wanted to do good by people. We remember as if it were yesterday a call we received from our dear friend Marty Weiss. He was calling for his dear brother in law Morris. He had a function coming up and commissioned Marty to call Reuven to capture the event with photos. We remember Marty saying in Morris’s name that he was insistent on it being Reuven to do this job. We were so honored that Morris thought of us and so many years later we understand he did all his acts of true kindness making people feel good and helping them in a dignified way.
