Elaine Shefsky (nee Katzman) lit up the world around her. She made friends with everyone she met. Elaine and her beloved, the late Lawrence Shefsky, were married for 64 years. They created a close and loving family. Son Jay Shefsky (Liz Feldman). Daughter Julie Froeter (Chris) and the late Alan Shefsky. Grandchildren Alex Froeter, Joe Froeter, Ruby Froeter, Leah Shefsky, Hannah Shefsky (Mike Thurnauer), and the latest, brightest light in her life, Great-grandson Lev. She was a beloved aunt, daughter, cousin, sister, bridge player, dancer, patient, neighbor and friend. She could captivate an audience with a story or joke. Elaine was a Bridgeport girl, daughter of immigrant shopkeepers, youngest of four beautiful and vivacious sisters, and had a deep, lifelong connection to Union Pier, Michigan. Service Thursday at 10, Chicago Jewish Funerals, 8851 Skokie Blvd, Skokie. Interment Westlawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to ACLU. The expansive and loving tributes at the funeral speak volumes about her marvelous way of being in the world, and the impact that she has left on every soul fortunate enough to have known her. A force for good, whose light so clearly continues to shine through the members of her family. May even her memory bless us.
