GUEST BOOK

We encourage you to share your personal condolences and stories of Gloriann Levy below and we will share them with the family.
*Email and phone numbers will NOT be displayed online

Gloriann was truly "A woman of valor", wise, loving, compassionate, strong and generous. She was a dear friend for over 20 years, beginning when both of us worked on synagogue education and continuing through our retirements and Gloriann's move to Chicago to be near her sons and their families, to share " ordinary times" as well as all the special moments and milestones with them. Gloriann had lots of advice, which she dispensed lovingly over a meal together or on the phone, but never judged and always encouraged. She loved Judaism's teachings, history and ritual while welcoming people of every level of observance. She loved the theater and the opera, beautiful gardens, paintings and architecture, but family and friends most of all. Her memory will be a blessing.

Gloriann was like a second mom to me. I have so many memories of times growing up that I will cherish forever. She was the sweetest kindest person I have ever met. She was full of love and joy always! I will miss her smile and her laugh. I am so grateful she was part of my life. I will never forget her.

Gloriann was a friend of mine from the age of 14. We were in Camp Tel Yehuda together, together on the year course, studied English and History together at the Hebrew University. In addition to all that we were great friends and shared so many experiences. She will be sorely missed. She was an etraordinary and wonderfu person.

On Fred’s side, Gloriann was a favorite cousin all her life.
The Pomerantz family (including his wife, Janet, Fred’s late parents, Mickey and David OBM, and his brother, Harry), maintained, as possible despite the geographical distance that physically separated them, a strong relationship with Gloriann’s Mom, Cele Grayman OBM, and Gloriann’s late husband, Mark Levy OBM, in all their domiciles, from Brooklyn to West Hartford to Albany and Omaha
and, in Burt and Cici’s case, North Carolina.

Fred and Janet attended Jonathan’s bar mitzvah on a snowy February weekend in West Hartford, CT where the family then resided, and visited Gloriann and Mark in Albany after they relocated. Both Gloriann and Mark were model parents for their beloved
sons and were dedicated to family throughout their lives. Mark’s too early passing was a shock to Fred’s family. When Gloriann followed her sons to Illinois,
Fred and Janet both communicated by phone with Gloriann on a regular basis.

Gloriann celebrated, at long distance, all of Fred and Janet’s three children’s’ bar and bar mitzvot and Fred and Janet celebrated in person the wedding of
Daniel in Skokie, IL. When Mark passed prematurely, Fred and Janet were present at the graveside service and burial in New Jersey.

Burt and Cici were also part of the Pomerantz family’s life for many years, in particular before they relocated to North Carolina. They too were always in Fred and Janet’s thoughts (and are to the present) and they too mourned the premature loss of their beloved son, Ben.

Dan and Jonathan’s and Burt and Cici’s future life and family celebrations, milestones and achievements will hopefully always be communicated to Fred and Janet.

May all of them remember the Pomerantz family of New York and the Netherlands. May Gloriann and Mark and Ben’s memories be for a blessing.

My deepest condolences to Gloriann’s family, who, along with her myriad friends, acquaintances, and anybody whoever ever came in contact with her, have lost a force of life.
I will miss her strident and cheerful voicemail message, “ It’s Gloriann, leave a message!” and her wonderful engagement with anybody she came into contact with.
My Shabbat table will not be the same without her.
May her memory be a blessing.

At today’s memorial, I learned a great deal about Loriann. I learned what a resilient and interesting woman she was. She was truly a blessing to Hadassah, to her faith, family and friends. May she forever rest in peace.
