OBITUARY

Dr. Robert (Bob) David Essak, age 85, retired dentist, passed away on July 29, 2023 surrounded by love in his Glenview home, after wrestling with both NET cancer and metastasized ocular melanoma. Loving husband of Judith Essak nee Fink. Beloved father of Deborah (David) Cohen, Samuel (Jennifer) Essak, and Rebecca (Martin) Zeidman. Proud grandfather of Maayan Essak, Balen (Lorena) Essak-Hernandez, Lena Essak, Micah Cohen, and Adin Cohen. Cherished brother of Karen (the late Arthur) Paullin and brother-in-law of Sara (Bill) Belkov and the late Larry Fink. Bob Essak was a friend to everyone who met him. His personality drew others to him, and he was loved for his kindness and self-effacing manner, his playfulness, and his ability to use humor in life. He will be greatly missed and never forgotten as his simple pleasures of nature, art, music, and sports are now treasured activities for his children and grandchildren. In memory of my lifelong friend. Bob was a truly remarkable man who lived a life that manifested his kindness, intelligence, playful wit, talent, love of the arts, professional skill and expansive love for family and friends. He was an artist who created a masterpiece of his life.

Dr. Essak was a really kind and wonderful man. I enjoyed hearing his stories, but it was hard for me to respond while he was doing work on my mouth. I really appreciated getting to know him a little more when I was visiting Sam. I will truly miss him.

My heartfelt sympathy to Judy and to Judy and Bob's children and grandchildren. Bob was a lifelong friend from when since we met at age 6. As boyhood friends Bob was instrumental in my life in introducing me to classical piano music. We shared many activities together while growing up. Being with him, when we could, was a pleasure. He will surely be missed.
