There are so many years of memories going back to my childhood. Eta made my wedding cake. It was the best wedding cake I’ve had to this day. It was a flourless chocolate cake. I cannot imagine a world without her. In recent years she told us a story that had us in stitches about referring to the restroom as a “thunder bucket”. She was so strong, funny and nurturing. I can still hear her voice in my head when I think of her. I hope that never changes.💔

I still find it hard to believe she is gone. “Titia”, auntie in Portuguese, was very much loved by her nephews in Brazil, offspring of her only brother Rudolf Hruby, Rudy to those who knew him. Titia spent her teens in the south of Brazil, State of Paraná, where she built strong relationships and was a special and dearest aunt for the children of her best friends. In Rio, as a young lady under the mother ordered (not-so) watchful eyes of her brother, she learned to drink her favorite Brazilian drink – the “caipirinha”, enjoy the “feijoada” which she served at Uncle Bernie´s 70th birthday (what a great cook she was) and dance and laugh with her friends. Every time she came down to Rio, we would all be happy and excited to see her with her sparkling eyes and smile, game to go out and learn about something new and fun in town. But it did not stop there, she would always be in touch, wanting to know how things were going and how all the younger children were doing. Even remotely she was a very present person in our lives. She will be sorely missed. Our love to our cousins Michael, Andrea and Rick.

On 2/3/1937 a star was born and on that same day, 86 years later, that same star returned to its place of origin.

Etinka, who welcomed me into her arms on the day I was born, as a beloved niece, and who has always been present in my life and in my heart.

I am very grateful that we have shared so many nice moments in our lives. I'm glad I had the opportunity to say goodbye, even though it hurt deep inside my heart.

Etinka dear, follow your path in the Light and may the angels accompany you.
All my love.
I will miss you!!! - “Sentirei saudades”

We are heartbroken. With great serenity our dear Etinka said goodbye to us. How difficult it is to say goodbye to such a special person in our lives. Although living in different countries, she was always close to us. Every birthday the phone rang, with her voice vibrant and full of love. And how many happy moments shared!
She will always be in our hearts.
Our sincere condolences and love to Andrea, Mike and Ricky.

I knew Eta from Aitz Hayim. I always enjoyed talking with her on the High Holidays. A few years ago I’d visited Prague for the first time and brought a small cat pendant with garnets. When I wore it to Rosh Hashanah services that year, she noticed it immediately and asked it I’d purchased it in Prague! Her eye was definitely trained to recognize those Czech garnets at a glance. We had a lovely conversation about my trip.

She was always so friendly and gracious. May her memory be for a blessing.

Eta was a legend in my life in celebrating life cycle events in my home. She fed our souls through delicious food, great conversations, honest opinions, and a genuine warmth. Eta was no nonsense and you knew you were getting an honest
Opinion for all things that matter. Eta was ageless and it mak s me sad that the good people leave too early. Eta has left an impact for all who had the privilege of her personally
And in a professional role.
With my sincere condolences

My Mom and Eta were friends --- what an understatement! Of the many, many memories I have of her that I know I will visit time and again over the coming months and years there is one that is so emblematic of who she was and what she means to me. When my husband and I arrived in HP from NYC at the beginning of the pandemic Eta was at my Mom's doorstep in an instant with delicious soups and baked goods day after day. Not to mention an entire Passover meal. We were weary from what was happening to the city we had called home for so long and tired from the drive. I will never forget that kindness and care. How we felt safer instantly because she was at the doorstep. She was also at my parent's doorstep in an instant when my father passed and took over handling the shiva with her usual grace. As always she got it all just right. Good bar, good food! She handled brunch the day after my wedding. She was simply always there. Celebrating with us. Comforting us. As reliably as the sun rising and setting. I don't know how one person wraps her arms around so many people all at once. I'm happy and grateful that we were lucky enough to be some of those people. My husband and I like to say when we lose someone important to us that the world tilts a bit off its axis. That happened last week for us. I made her promises I will keep. I will cherish a beautiful plant Andrea and Eta picked out for our new home here. And the doorsteps of our homes will never be the same. Love and comfort to all of the Wendrows from Beth and Carlos

Her dignity was only beat out by her warm-hearted smile. She was one of my high holidays special greetings, her eyes smiled as her cheek met yours in a hug. We bonded years ago during an Aitz (mock) Dinner Dance. I mentioned that I had grown up in catering business..instant friendship. Her memory is already a Blessing.

We heard the unfortunate news while in LA for the winter. Your mother was a gem beyond description. Both Barbara and Sue loved her and regarded Etta as a close friend on all accounts.

We go back so long and that certainly doesn't diminish the fond memories of times we Mom and Bernie shared together. Etta's life revolved around her children and grand children ad she felt very blessed to have you.

She was very smart and could size up situations quickly.

We will miss her not like you will but very much,

Deep condolences,
