I am so sorry for your loss and know that it will be hard to bear. Such a warm and generous spirit, kind, generous and inspiring. It was my privilege to know him and share his passion for colour photography. I treasure having known him and I know that is so small compared to all the wonderful memories you will cherish that will never leave you,

Mark was also my friend for an unimaginable amount of years. When I spoke to him last, Hannah's family was in the US visiting and that must have been such a comfort to him. I just can't imagine not talking about politics, photography, Chicago, and of course family. I am crushed to lose such a caring, sweet, always loyal friend. I am so sorry Hannah. He loved you so much. Your dad was so talented, so brilliant and so unique and such an asset to the photography world. I feel lucky to have had him as my friend.

I am deeply saddened by the loss of Mark. I have known him since 2007 and he has been a friend and professional mentor that I relied on for help. His encyclopedic knowledge and kind nature are unparalleled. He will be greatly missed. My deep condolences to Hannah and family.

Recently my wife and I were at Old Orchard mall, in Skokie, IL after decades of never having been there, and thoughts of my teenage years and Foto-Tek Camera came to mind. One day, a lifetime ago as it were, I was rearranging what seemed to be hundreds of boxes in my basement, when I happened upon many Kodachrome transparencies of my dad 's USAF tenure and his early days as a United Airlines pilot post release. One slide in particular, of my pop standing next to a TWA Convair 990 aircraft at Orchard Field, now O'Hare, captured my fancy and I knew not what to do to get the thing printed. I rode my bike to Foto Tek and encountered a very helpful gentleman, "Mark", and his employee, Howard, who helped turn this slide into a now faded 8X10 which I have had since the day I picked it up after LaSalle Photo and Bill Yamamoto, care of Foto Tek, printed it This imag has followed me to about 20 different homes over the year, adorning the same frame in which it was originally placed, and, notwithstanding the myriad images of my now adult daughters, it is the most cherished photograph I have. I've since scanned the slide in question and can reprint it at any time, but have never done so. Although this may sound trite and insignificant, that picture doesn't exist without Mark Jacobs. I lost track of him when I left Winnetka, IL for collegue but will not soon forget him, Howard and "Kay" , who also sold me a circa 1959 Mamiya Sekor rangefinder camera with which I toured Spain, Italy, Macedonia, Poland and Germany following my freshman year of college.

May Mark rest in enternal peace. My condolences to all who knew and cherished his memory.
