OBITUARY
Raymond Lincoln Weiss was born on 1930 in Cleveland, Ohio to Adolph and Nina (Koller) Weiss, immigrants from Hungary. He received a B. A. from the University of Cincinnati in 1951. He studied at the Hebrew University in Israel and, in 1951, earned an M. H. L. from the Hebrew Union College. He served in the active rabbinate from 1956 to 1962. In 1966 Weiss received a Ph.D. from the University of Chicago. He taught in the philosophy department of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee from 1965 to 1996. He is the author (with Charles Butterworth) of Ethical Writings of Maimonides (1975) and Maimonides Ethics: The Encounter of Philosophic and Religious Morality (1991). He is survived by his beloved wife, Catherine Bock-Weiss, his nieces Linda Gaibel and Arlene Fox, and many grand nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother Howard Weiss and his sister Mildred Zlatin. Service Friday 12 noon at Chicago Jewish Funerals, 8851 Skokie Blvd. (at Niles Center Road) Skokie.
