Profoundly sad to learn of Harris passing. Prayers and condolences to Sheila, his children and grandchildren. I worked with Harris at Ryerson for many years and cherished him as a colleague. Highest integrity, knowledgeable, intelligent, creative, always a smile and words of encouragement even in tough situations.
He was devoted to his family and always spoke lovingly of his beautiful wife Sheila. Proud father of his children and their accomplishments and character.
And he loved his train life!! So many stories…
He was a bright light in our world. Rest in peace my friend.

Dear Sheila, I am so sorry to hear of your loss. I first met Harris many years ago when your brother added me, his secretary, as a last-minute fill-in, to his group attending a Cub’s game. As the sole female, I was feeling awkward and out of place. Harris, whom I had just met, befriended me. It turned out to be a fun and enjoyable day. I will always remember him as a kind and humorous person. May his memory be a blessing to you and your family.

Mr. Spanier would always light up the room with laughter and a positive spirit, even when he didn't feel his greatest. He was loved by all the Northwestern-USRC team and he will be sorely missed. I can hear him now telling the Good Lord, "I demand service!" And he will get it.. 🙂 May you Sheila, family and friends know what a blessing you have in his memories and embrace you during this time and beyond.

When I think of Harris , I remember the the time he volunteered to help me learn how to ride a bike. I finally mastered it and I think he was glad as it involved a lot of running on his part. He. Always was willing to help others. In the last years of his life, he showed great courage. He and Sheila were such good partners in their lives. He was a great man. Love to you Sheila, Tain

Sheila
My sincere condolences on your loss.
So many years have past since I have seen you and anyone in your extended family.
Yet I saw the notice in the paper, and I am compelled to reach out and offer these meager words of support.
May Harris’ memory be a comfort and blessing to you and your children and grandchildren.

Dear Sheila, Tom, Lauren and to all of your family ~
I'm so very sorry for the loss of your beloved Harris. I just watched the service, which allowed me to learn more about Harris and the history of his life. From family gatherings I remember Harris as such a warm and fun loving person -- always with a ready smile. I knew of his love of trains, which was so unique. I was not aware of his great love of dogs, which could speak to how Arthur and Harris got along so well. Harris is gone too soon -- I'm so sorry for this. May all of the beautiful memories that you created together comfort you for the rest of your days.
With much love,
Freddie
