OBITUARY

Phyllis Estelle Bower, née Rappin, age 90. Beloved wife of the late Paul Bower. Cherished mother of Lawrence Bower, Bruce(Elena) Bower and Eileen Inglesby. Loving grandmother to Cassandra, Carly, Cody and Camaron Inglesby. Beloved great grandmother to Joshua, Emily, Brendon and Bryce-Sophia. Dear sister of Rheta (the late Isidore) Slavin and Jeffrey Rappin ( Penny Brown). Phylliss was devoted to High School District 219 where she worked for many years, served on the School Board and was active in ORT. To keep everyone safe and healthy, the service will be private. I met Phyllis when I became employed at Niles West High School. We became fast friends/co-workers. Phyllis ALWAYS had my back (and everyone else's). Back in the day when she was a passionate union rep, she was a force to be reckoned with. She was our advocate, always fighting till the end for our rights. She knew her stuff and many understood that you didn't mess with Phyllis!
Phyllis was a most loving and devoted mother, grandmother and friend. She had a heart of gold and would do anything for anybody. She made the world a better place, and I am grateful that our paths crossed. Thank you, always, Phyllis.

My prayers and thoughts are with you Eileen and your entire family. I feel fortunate to have served with Phyllis on the Fairview School Board for many years. She always wanted to do what was best for the students, faculty and the Fairview community. Her family was so important to her and she never tired of sharing stories about her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. I am sure she will be missed by many!
