OBITUARY

Michael M. Grossman, age 56

Cherished son of Joan and the late Jack Grossman. Dear brother of Gary Grossman, Lynn (Jeff) Miller, and the late Gayle (the late Mark) Levy. Adoring uncle of Max Grossman, Jacob Grossman, Adam (Michelle) Miller, Erica Miller (Dan Hansen), Brian Levy, Jonathan Levy, and Molly Levy. He will be missed by his many loving cousins and his DePaul family. There isn’t a kinder more true-hearted soul than Mike. He taught so many of us the right way to greet a friend, with open arms and a genuinely warm hug. If you ever find yourself at Hopsmith or O’Toole’s in Chicago, have a glass of milk or vanilla ice cream in Mike’s honor. To keep everyone safe and healthy, the service will be private. My memories of Mike are from the many family holidays I was included in and all the times I saw Mike at Rhonda and Rob's home. He was always there with a big hug hello and goodbye. He was always so friendly and sweet and will be remembered very fondly as the very special guy he was. My most sincere condolences to Joan, Gary, Lynn and the rest of his family

Some people come into our lives and quickly go; some stay for a while and leave footprints on our hearts, and we are never the same. Mike was not only my co-worker, but my close friend for over 17 years. He always greeted me with a friendly hello, a big smile and a hug; and each year on my birthday, he would call wanting to be the first to wish me a Happy Birthday. We spent many hours on the phone talking about sports and TV shows from the 1960's and 1970's. Our final conversation was last Wednesday, when he came to me in a dream before I awoke and said "I'm going to be okay." God has another angel in heaven now. My thoughts and prayers are with his family during this difficult time.

It didn’t matter how many days or weeks would pass before I would see Mike at work, the greeting was always the same. “Rachel” a big smile and hug. I am going to miss those hugs and the big smile. You will be missed Mike but live on in our hearts and memories.

Deepest condolences to Michael's family and friends. I consider myself so lucky to have met Michael and had the chance to get to know him. Our paths crossed when he worked as a 50/50 raffle seller for the White Sox. He was the most positive, dedicated, loyal and enthusiastic member of our team to this very day. He brought joy and smiles to all who met him. His passing leaves a void for so many. To all of you, may his memory be a blessing.

I had the pleasure of first meeting Mike back in 2008 when I began working for the Chicago Bulls. I would continue seeing Mike at the United Center for the next 10+ years. Over the years , we both always took the time to greet each other and ask how we were doing, whether I beat him to it or he did. From time to time we would share a joke or just laugh about something silly. Mike did an amazing job raising awareness and money for the various Chicago sports team charities he worked for over the years. I’m thankful that I saw Mike about a year ago, just before the pandemic hit and lockdowns began. He was smiling and happy per usual. I will miss his kind and genuine greetings. I will miss him, period. To Mike’s family, I send my condolences, thoughts and prayers.
