OBITUARY
Sidney “Bud” Kahn, age 88
Sidney Kahn lived the American Dream. Born into poverty during the height of the Great Depression, Sid was forced to focus on work in his early teen years, primarily to help support his family. His life would change forever, when he met his future love and wife, Lois, at the corner of Devon and California. Before too long, Sid and Lois were married and had two children.
Unable to pursue a college degree, Sid was not traditionally educated like some others, but he was very smart. In 1961, his strong work ethic and entrepreneurial spirit led him to found B&F Coffee Service which he led, grew and sold in 2006. Sid was the family patriarch, not only supporting his wife and children, but also helping out his siblings and their children. Moreover, he was very compassionate, generous and kind. His hardworking nature and success allowed him to live a prosperous and comfortable life, very different than his childhood.
In Sid’s eyes, this was not his greatest achievement. It was his wife, two kids and his seven grandchildren who he warmly referred to as his “dividends.” He loved his family more than anything in this world and he would do anything for them. His family loved him back just as much, if not more. He will be greatly missed.
Beloved husband of the late Lois S. Kahn. Loving father of Marcey (the late Paul) Barichello and Michael (Suzanne) Kahn. Proud grandfather of Nicole, Jaclyn and Michelle Barichello, Maria, Alexander, Andrew and Bella Kahn. Dear brother of Cheryl (Rich) Lucas, the late Robert Kahn, the late Phyllis (the late Tony) Langer, the late Freya (the late Sy) Maslov, the late Sande (the late Bill) Warsaw, the late Chuck (the late Susan) Kahn and the late Judy (the late Phil) Costa.
