OBITUARY
Michael Alan Reid, age 72.
Loving husband of Diana Reid nee Rifkin. Beloved father of Joshua Aaron (Debra Stone) Reid Stone, Bradley David (Jenny) Reid and Rebecca Ann (Clinton) Hieber. Cherished grandfather of Carson, Tyler, Sean and Zachary. Dear brother of Robert (Jill) Reid.
A profoundly dedicated Cubs fan since the 1950s, and a steadfast Beatles connoisseur, he thrived on consuming everything those mediums had to offer and did so with pride. Mike was also a valued member in the community of Skokie, IL. where he lived and raised his children for almost 40 years. A civic-minded individual, Mike served on the Skokie Park District executive board for nearly 20 years. As a commissioner and president, he was integral in spearheading the improvements of numerous parks and facilities. For several years he was the master of ceremonies for a multitude of Skokie Park District events, including their 4th of July celebrations and at the Skokie Festival of Cultures, using his charm and quick wit to entertain all those who attended. Mike also won the 2024 Commissioner of the Year Award, by the Illinois Association of Park Districts, the first time that the Skokie Park District has been a recipient of this honor. In September of 2024, Lawler Park, across the street from Niles North High School and Old Orchard Mall, was renamed Mike Reid Park, a tribute that the park district graciously bestowed upon him to memorialize his memory. Mike will be missed dearly by the innumerable amount of people who valued his presence in their lives. His loss will be mourned for years to come.
