Steve was my mentor and fellow colleague in the emergency department at Evanston Hospital. He was soft spoken but a great communicator among fellow physicians and nursing staff. His smile was contagious and he always had a story to tell. You could always look in his eyes and know that he was interested with everything thing that was spoken. He was a great student of life. His patients loved him and the entire ED staff loved him. He will be greatly missed! My sincere condolences to Esther and the family

Dr. Vogel, excellent Emergency Physician, mentor to many, and admired for his all-round knowledge. Not just medical.
His wit and humor will be missed.

I can't claim to have known Steve well, yet I owe him a debt of gratitude. His son Jon has been a dear friend for three decades and for that I will always be grateful. Jon was blessed to take after his father in many ways and if his intelligence, wit, kindness and generosity are a reflection of his father, Steve must have been a remarkable man.

Pam and I are so sorry to hear of Steve's illness and passing away. Steve was truly a mentor ,and teacher to me and I carried his wisdom, compassion, and "pearls" through my entire career in the ED. Steve encouraged me as a Resident and continued to give his sage advice my entire career. I will miss his wit, advice and console greatly. He was a true friend. May his memory be a blessing to all.
