OBITUARY

We are sad to announce the passing of our beloved mother, Ann Baseman Rosenblum, early on the morning of September 26, 2024, surrounded by her three children. Ann was born on May 1, 1947. She was married to the love of her life, Michael Rosenblum, for one month shy of 50 years before his passing in 2017. Ann was a proud mother of Jennifer (Marc), Jeff (Gabriela) and Eric (Rachael), and is survived by her grandkids Hilary, James, Reese (Jennifer); Avi, Rowan, Sam and Emily (Jeff) and Maxine and Lucian (Eric), whom she adored.
Ann excelled at everything she did, from passing the CPA exam on the first try, to a long career in accounting, to serving the community, including as President of both the School Board and Library Board. She was a prolific knitter, and nothing gave her more pleasure than knitting blankets and giving them as gifts to her relatives, friends, and friends’ children. She had many friends who loved her dearly and were an essential part of her life, including many of her clients.
Please join us at a memorial service to celebrate her life Sunday 12 Noon at Am Shalom, 840 Vernon Ave., Glencoe, IL 60022. Memorials to Muscular Dystrophy Association 1016 West Jackson Blvd #1073 Chicago, Illinois 60607 www.mda.org would be appreciated.

Dear Jennifer, Jeff and Eric,

My deepest sympathy to you and your children on the loss of your beloved mother and grandmother. Ann was our accountant for many years, but I considered her a friend. Every time I dropped off documents at the house or spoke on the phone, we ended up chatting about a variety of topics having nothing to do with taxes. She was easy to talk to, smart, warm, friendly and kind.

From our conversations over the years, I know that you and your families brought enormous pride and pleasure to your mother. When I saw her in early August, she told me that you had all been wonderful as she dealt with her various health issues, and she felt so fortunate and grateful.

I hope that you will all find comfort from happy memories and from the support, caring and love of family, friends and community. May your mother's memory forever be a blessing.

I’m heartbroken to say goodbye to my dear friend, Ann Rosenblum. Ann was truly one of a kind—brilliant, with a mind that could untangle even the most complex problems, and a heart full of integrity. She had this incredible ability to cut right to the core of any situation, and I could always count on her for honest, thoughtful advice, even if we didn’t always agree. That honesty, paired with her loyalty, made her someone I leaned on more times than I can count.

Ann and I bonded over our love for children’s books, all things sparkly, and our shared sense of irreverent humor. We would laugh so hard together that we’d end up snorting, lost in the moment. She also had this treasure trove of life stories that she shared with me, and I’ll always be grateful for the wisdom and support she offered, especially during the tough times.

The world feels a little dimmer without Ann’s light. Her sharp wit, her laughter, and her friendship meant the world to me, and I know many others feel the same. I’ll miss her deeply, but I’ll carry her with me always.

Rest easy, Ann—you’ll always be in my heart.

With love,
Soyna
