Bernie was a consistent member of the Shabbat minyan at Young Israel of Northbrook. I first met Bernie when I started attending Shabbat minyan’s to say Kaddish for my father. Bernie was always cracking jokes and cheering me up in between aliyot, but when it came time for the Torah reading, he would always focus on the portion and study it closely. He was a devoted Jew and a great community member. Thank you, Bernie, for making me feel at home all of those Shabbat minyans - BDE.
