Funeral Details

Benjamin Liberman was the fourth and last child of Helen and Arie Liberman. His oldest sibling, his brother Zvie, had celebrated his Bar Mitzvah nearly a year before Ben was born. They were bookends, with two sisters in between, and were always very close.
The family moved from the West Side to Albany Park when Ben was a toddler. He and Sarah, who was two years older than him, traveled with their parents to Israel and Europe, all the while attending school. His older sister Etha and husband Erv, who made Aliyah to Jerusalem, had three children, establishing Ben as the family uncle. In Chicago, his brother Zvie and wife Timna added three more children to the family, with Ben now an uncle to Ranan, Hana, Yael, Akiva, Michale, and Elana.
Ben came of age in the turbulent era of the 1960’s, and served his country in Vietnam. After completion of his service Ben returned to and remained a life-long Chicagoan. He had an intense curiosity about life and was interested in learning about so many different things, including medicine, meditation, science fiction, and day-trading, to name a few. These passions let him travel to conferences across the US, where he made many lifelong friends.
His brother Zvie’s remarriage to Barbara brought about new extended family ties: a niece Sarah and de-facto niece Esther. He was very involved in their lives and life celebrations.
The world will be much a quieter and less interesting place without Ben. He will be deeply missed.
Services will be held Thursday at 12 Noon at Chicago Jewish Funerals, 8851 Skokie Boulevard (at Niles Center Road), Skokie, Illinois. Interment will follow immediately at the Westlawn Cemetery 7801 West Montrose Avenue, Norridge, Illinois 60706.
