Lauren,

I hated to get the news of Esther's passing. I will always remember coming to your house for high holidays. Esther, and Mort were always such gracious hosts, the special meals so deelish.

May Esther's memory be a blessing!

Love,
Judy

Lauren, I was saddened to hear about your mom. Esther was a warm, caring woman who loved her family. Her passing leaves a huge void. She was very strong, as are you. I know that strength will help you cope with this very difficult time. Be well. Scott

I have such lovely memories of Mrs Seaman. She provided her home for dear Gail's friends and inspired us with her love of performing arts. She was always smiling and encouraging us and our individuality. She made a lasting impression on me and others. My sincere condolences to all her loved ones

Here are my remarks from the service at the chapel:
Esther was always an extra-special relative to my sister Diana, my brother David, and me, because she was both our mother Sophieâ??s cousin and our father Samâ??s cousin. Estherâ??s father, their beloved Papa and our dear Uncle Elic, was our fatherâ??s motherâ??s brother, and her mother, Dora, was our motherâ??s motherâ??s sister. Think of it this way: if a cousin on your motherâ??s side married a cousin on your fatherâ??s side, you would be our Esther.
In 1960, my family moved from a farm in Vermontville, Michigan, to Chicago, and Esther took us under her wing. Diana and I were invited to sleepovers at their apartment on Arthur. They took us out to restaurantsâ??we had our first taste of Chinese food at the Pekin House on Devon with themâ??and they took us to shows and movies, to parties at the Covenant Club. I believe we learned how to be city girls from Esther. Their generosity to us knew no bounds.
Our mother was thrilled to be invited to be a regular in Estherâ??s mahjongg game and looked forward to it every week for twelve years.
Over the years we stayed as close as we could, since distance pulled us apart. Esther was an attentive listener, and always very interested in what was going on in our lives. She asked thoughtful questions, not just about what we were doing, but also about why. She made us think! We have wonderful memories of times spent with her, and Mort, and our first-and-a-half cousins Gail and Lauren. We will miss our dear extra-special cousin Esther with all our hearts.
