OBITUARY

Mark Spencer Weiss, 68, of Los Angeles (originally Chicago), passed away peacefully after a long and valiant battle with a degenerative neuromuscular condition. Beloved son of the late Fred and Bettye Weiss; loving devoted brother of Elly Weiss (Walter Hansel) and Roger (Nancy) Weiss; cherished uncle of Zack and Justin Weiss; wonderful cousin and friend to many, including honorary brothers Jeff Wheat and Steve Snow; and was a loyal lifetime Cubs fan. He was treasured, loved, and admired by all who knew him. Graveside service Thursday Nov 16, 11 AM, at Shalom Memorial Park, 1700 W Rand Rd (Sec. VIII Nebo), Arlington Heights. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the The Motion Picture & Television Fund (where Mark was so ideally cared for and loved by his angelic palliative care team and caretakers), Muscular Dystrophy Association, CureSMA (Spinal Muscular Atrophy), and American Heart Association. Mark was a great neighbor and a joy to bump into around the building and, for years, the neighborhood...despite the Cubs hat. It was impossible not to be happy for him when the Cubs won the World Series (even though they went through the Dodgers to get there),

I'm deeply saddened by Marks passing. He was the older brother I always wanted and I will always cherish the memories of time spent in conversation at family events or on the phone over the years. His humor, intelligence and love for life and family were a beacon to those who admired and loved him. He will be greatly missed.

Its been 5 days now and frankly I'm still at a loss for the right words to express my feelings. For 39 years, Mark was my best friend, mentor, counselor and so many other things. My heart is empty. We truly were brothers from different mothers. I will miss his laughter, sense of humor, kindness, unstoppable strenght and courage, positive attitude and bright spirit. With all the struggles he had to contend with, he never gave in or gave up. He will always be my hero. A day will not go by that I don't think of him. I miss you my friend. It hurts to say goodbye.

Mark was such a sweet and caring gentlemen. I so enjoyed our time bantering back in forth about my Dodgers and his Cubs. Now he is enjoying the best seat in the all the stadiums. Mark and his family are in my thoughts and prayers.

I was saddened to hear of Mark's passing. He was definitely a very unique man. We had many fun years together. And, though I was a White Sox fan and he a Cub man, we shared the fun of the rivalry.
