OBITUARY

Pamela Gene Lichtenstein, nee Slavin, age 71, of Skokie, Illinois, passed away peacefully March 27, 2018 in Sarasota, Florida. Pam or "Pammy" was born February 27, 1947 and raised in Benton Harbor, Michigan. She was a proud Benton Harbor High graduate (Class of '65), earned a B.S. from Western Michigan University and maintained warm friendships with temple and school friends over the years. Always eager to help a friend in need, she was an exquisite baker and chef with a fine eye for detail and found treasures everywhere. She had a charmed way of creating feasts and parties for friends and family. Pam loved knitting, antiquing and traveling and passed along her joie de vivre to her three daughters and three grandchildren. Her gift of gab and sense of humor will stay with us forever. She lives on through her husband Richard M. Lichtenstein, daughters Nina Joy Lichtenstein (David Washington), Amanda Leigh Lichtenstein and Hillary Aryn Lichtenstein, grandbabies Manuel Nacham, Gabriel Jubilee and Scheherazade Eva Washington, siblings Jerrold Slavin, Carla (Carl) Klein and Audrey Slavin. Predeceased by her parents Norman Slavin and Marion Cozak Slavin and stepmother Carol Parker Slavin. Guardian of three pet dogs: Bessie Dora, Angelina and Xanthe Reese. Services: Monday, April 2, 2018, 12 Noon, at Chicago Jewish Funerals, 8851 Skokie Blvd. (at Niles Center Road), Skokie, Illinois. Interment Memorial Park Cemetery in Skokie, Illinois. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Pam’s name to the charity of your choice. Arrangements by Chicago Jewish Funerals - Skokie Chapel, 847.229.8822, www.cjfinfo.com.

Pam was always the dearest friend one could ever wish to have. She was the one who would be there for you at any time of day or night. She had the kindest heart and would give of herself beyond the call of duty. She is a forever friend and I was very fortunate to have her in my life . My memories of Pam include the fun of adventure; travel, antiquing, garage hunting; baking, laughing, sharing our childrenâ??s lives, South Haven, MI visits, dining out and enjoying in sharing our lives.

I had the pleasure of meeting Pam in some classes at Benton Harbor High. After high school, we lost touch but rekindled our friendship about 10yrs. ago via online. She had the kindest heart anyone could ever ask for. We shared our "baking" capablities w/ one another as she was a "superb" chef. We will miss our dear friend but yet know we will meet again in the hereafter . R.I.P. dear Pam

I met your mom at the ear doctor's office in Skokie when takng my mom to get a hearing aid about 5 years ago. She was such an interesting person that we connected right away. She spoke of love of her 3 daughters and her grandchildren. She was going to connect my daughter who worked for the UN to her daughter who worked in Zanizbar. I was attracted to your mom's infinite knowledge of antiques and treasures. We did several estate sales together where I got to meet Gladious her 100 year ols friend. Your mom showed me her museum of treasures in her Skokie home. I spoke to her a week or two before her passing and wanted to see when she was returning to Chicago. She told me her condition was fatal and she would not be getting a kidney transplant. I was hoping the doctors were wrong. Your mom was an estate sale mentor to me. She shared so many stories of her acquisitions and finds. She was a caring giving person and always wanted to share what she had. I was blessed to have known her these past five years. My prayers and thoughts are with her family. She will surely be missed by me and so many others. May her dear soul rest in peace.

Ricardo, Nina, Amanda, Hillary, David, .Manuel, Gabriel, Joy, Carla, and Audrey, What a significant and beautiful celebration for Pam. The testimonials from "Ricardo", Carla, and Rabbi Cohen will be long remembered. We all will miss Pam terribly. She was the true matriarch of the Lichtenstein, Klein, Washington, and Slavin families. Her keen intellect, sense of humor, love of family, and strong love of antiques and collectibles as well as gourmet foods, entertaining, and celebrations, have placed Pam in the Almighty book of records. She was a true "wonder woman"!!!!! May her soul rest in peace. Cousins Elaine and Ray
