I was saddened to hear about David's passing. He was a brilliant public relations professional who was always a phone call away whenever I needed advice or encouragement. He offered words of PR wisdom that were always insightful. He was "old school" but nevertheless was always up-to-speed on what was going as the world of PR. I admired him because he was a survivor in a business that can be cruel at times. I will miss his "ready for radio" voice, his sense of humor and his undying loyalty to his friends. I want his family to know that David was admired and respected by his colleagues and will be missed.
Best Regards,

Allen and I are very saddened by Dave’s passing. I last saw him about a year ago for a friend’s funeral; we got to talk for about an hour and hoped to get together again. I knew he was sick but he never let on how sick he was.

Dave was a dear friend, PR mentor, a consummate professional, my PCC carpool buddy, and a creative, incredibly talented man. Whenever he was the need, he stepped up and took charge. Any time advice was needed, Dave would answer the call. He was a great resource, a wealth of information and had a depth of knowledge. He loved the arts - even producing his own play - and opera. But most of all, he adored his family and was proud of them all. I had the honor of knowing and working with Dave over more than 30 years. He already has left a void and will always be sorely missed.

Gloria, Jeremy, Melissa and family, may the light of his memory be a blessing to you all now and forever.
Sincerest condolences,

Our memories so important, indelible. Dave, you touched mine as my Publicity Club of Chicago mentor, stalwart champion and friend. We spoke often about media relations and how aging traditionalist practitioners could make a living in the digital age. You were always good for an ear and words of encouragement. Your loss hurts my heart, and my hope is that you are with peace.

David, I will always remember your words to me on being named a PCC president. That was a phone call I will never forget. Your support, kindness, encouragement and laughter will be held dear by me always. I told you in life, but for a memorial: "thank you." Your memory will always be a blessing. - Sue Markgraf

Words cannot fully express my admiration and respect for David Brimm. He was one of the most authentic people I have ever known
in the communications profession. David was both genuine and generous with his time and knowledge. I knew him for at least 30 years.
We spent many week day mornings having breakfasts together at Max' Deli in Highland Park. Many lunches took place at PCC meetings
held in Chicago or the suburbs. It's a wonder we ever had time for billable client work.

We all have lost a dear friend and personal advocate. May David's good name be for a blessing. G-d bless his dear wife, Gloria, and family.

I'm very sorry to hear about your loss. Dave was a very giving person. I first met him when I was struggling in my career and he immediately took me under his wing. We spent many years as the North Shore contingent driving to Publicity Club of Chicago events. He was always willing to listen and provide help when I needed a PR expert to evaluate a situation. But more than that, he was a friend. In recent years, I was always touched when he'd recommend one of my "skills" on LinkedIn. Dave, hope you work out some good PR up there in the heavens! We'll miss you.

I extend my deepest condolences to Dave's wonderful wife, Gloria, his loving children and family members. I had the privilege of knowing him for more than 30 years. I was proud to consider him a good friend, mentor and supporter. He was not only very helpful to me in my own career but was always there when I needed a friend the most. When my own dear mother passed away in 2019, Dave was there to lift me up during my darkest hour. I had the great honor of introducing him as the 2020 PCC Lifetime Achievement Winner, an award that he richly deserved. I will also have the great honor to write a memorial tribute article about Dave for PCC.
When we look back on our own lives and think about those who touched us in special ways, he is very high on my list. I know there are so many more who feel the same way.
I commend Dave for a life well lived and for being an inspiration to others. Thank you for everything, good friend! I will never forget you!

I deeply regret that due to my previously scheduled teaching commitments, I can't attend today's service. However. I have made a gift to the Aitz Hayim Center For Jewish Living
in Dave's memory.

I am sharing condolences below from Tanja and Heiko Appel of Munich, Germany who were also touched by Dave's kindness when they visited Chicago last fall.
Tanja's grandfather was the late Fred Strauss, another past PCC president. She wanted to learn more about him since he passed before she was born. Dave, as always, was very helpful.

This morning we were shocked to hear about the passing away of David Brimm (through the PCC newsletter).

We met him twice in the beginning of the Fred research and since he was one of the last people who was in contact with Fred in his last months he was so very friendly to tell us about him.

We are very shocked and saddened by his death!

Please submit our condolences to his family...

Tanja and Heiko

I was shocked and deeply saddened when I learned of David's death this past Monday. I will always remember his warmth, kindness, humor, and generosity during the many Shabbat mornings we spent praying together at Aitz Hayim. Thank you for reminding me of Purim Spiells, his play. and clever Davidisms during the Funeral.

I am sending love, prayers, and healing energy to Gloria, Melissa, Jeramy, and all who love him. He will be missed.

Much love, Blair Brenner

My condolences to the Brimm family on David’s passing. I enjoyed collaborating with David on several PR clients and marveling how he could write so fast with such clarity. Mostly, I will remember David for his compassion and thoughtfulness as I recovered from two surgeries. He called out my name during Shabbat services when congregants identify those who are ill and need healing. I have been and will continue to call his name going forward.

I remember when David,Rob,Cathy,Jill would come visit us in Milwaukee. David was always in charge with a smile on his face. Sometimes my mom (Edith) would take us on the train to visit the cousins in the big city.
Please know all of you are in my thoughts. Take care of each other.

I am so sorry to hear of Dave's passing. I had the pleasure and honor of knowing Dave thanks to our many years of serving together on the PCC Board. In addition to his utmost professionalism and expertise in the PR field, can anyone match Dave's energy and enthusiasm for his work? His contributions to the Chicago PR industry will be ever-lasting. My deepest condolences to Dave's family.

Our deepest condolences to David's wonderful family. We met David when I was researching my late grandfather Fred Strauss, our first contact was nearly 8 years ago already and we stayed in contact over the years. Thank you so much David for your help (he was one of the last persons to be in contact with my grandfather) , you were telling me some wonderful anecdotes about my grandpa...we (my husband and I) were deeply impressed by David, his personality and story telling qualities! We hadn't experienced a person like him before...

To honor him we live streamed his funeral overseas (our first time ever, because here in Europe that's not common) and we're deeply moved about this wonderful service! You found such lovely words about David, especially the speeches of his family members were so beautiful and full of love...what a great family.

We wish you great strength for the days ahead. Thank you again, David!

So many years of wonderful memories of David. We worked together for years; his talent and skills were such as assets to so many clients. Whether at a catch up lunch or working, we always laughed. David’s laugh would just erupt and then Literally it was all over as we doubled over laughing. He loved his family first and foremost and then he loved his work. All in all, David loved life. Surely miss you my friend.
