OBITUARY

Carol Heller, nee Levi, age 89, of Olympia Fields, IL (formerly Flossmoor, IL) passed away peacefully on October 2, 2022, with her family by her side. Devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother, cherished aunt, and loyal friend. Preceded in death by her daughter Bonnie (Steven) Stein, her parents David and Johanna Levi, and in-laws Arthur and Ruth Heller. Survived by her children, Bruce (Ann) Heller and Wendy (the Honorable Bennett) Braun. Cherished grandmother of Amy and David Heller, Jordan, Abbey, and Jessica Stein, and Brooke and Ryan Braun. Raised in Chicago’s Hyde Park neighborhood, Carol graduated from Hyde Park High School and the University of Illinois in Champaign. She was an elementary education teacher and later, a travel agent. Carol was a devoted wife, affectionate mother, exceptional homemaker and baker, world traveler, talented gardener, and bridge Life Master. She served as president, board member and/or general member of many charitable organizations including Women’s American ORT, Temple Anshe Sholom Sisterhood, National Council for Jewish Women, and Hadassah. Carol was an intelligent, independent, caring, and compassionate woman who fiercely loved her family. Internment and graveside service on Friday, October 7, 2022 at 11 am at Waldheim Jewish Cemetery, 1400 S. DesPlaines, Gate 43, Forest Park, IL. Shiva on Friday afternoon and Saturday evening.
