OBITUARY
Marc Ira Lipton, 66, died unexpectedly in Ann Arbor, Michigan on Friday, November 9 after complications following a heart attack earlier in the week. Marc had returned to the United States this fall after years of working as a consultant in telecommunication policy for developing countries such as Iraq, Afghanistan, and most-recently Fiji. A graduate of Case Western Reserve Law School in Cleveland, Marc worked for more than thirty years as a lawyer for AT&T living in Chicago, San Antonio, and Dallas. Marc's passions were eclectic and numerous. He loved horseback riding with Marty in Texas, skiing with the guys in Colorado, attending the Toronto Film Festival, and traveling the world with Wendy, Stewart, and his beloved wife of forty years Carol. There was no topic too big, too small, or too obscure for Marc; he constantly fed his brilliant mind with new information, remembered it all, and then attempted to solve one problem after another to improve lives around the world. When he was stateside, you'd likely find him either in a coffee shop (preferably run by its small business owners) doing the New York Times crossword puzzle in about fifteen minutes or visiting his far-flung, beloved family: sister Bobbi, children David (Andrea) in Houston, Jamie in Arkadelphia, Linda in Cleveland, and Laura (Tony) in Ann Arbor and his adored grandchildren Emily (Mark) in Ohio, Michael, Victor, Lilo, and Jorge in Michigan, Anna in Pennsylvania, and Oscar and soon-to-be-born Eddy in Texas, and niece Karen (Steve) and nephew Adam (Michelle) in Chicago. Service Monday, 1:30 PM at Chicago Jewish Funerals, 8851 Skokie Blvd (at Niles Center Road), Skokie. Interment Westlawn. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Southern Poverty Law Center, www.splcenter.org. Arrangements by Chicago Jewish Funerals - Skokie Chapel, 847.229.8822, www.cjfinfo.com.
