OBITUARY

Talia Elle Gazlay, 34

Beloved daughter of Ronald and Shellie (nee Green) Gazlay. Loving sister and mentor of Ariel (Ken) Keiner, John Gazlay (Ali Flint), Jake (Dee) Gazlay. Cherished aunt and Godmother of Grayson Keiner. Dear granddaughter of the late Rose Statland and the late Irwin Green, the late Evelyn and the late John Gazlay. Affectionate friend to many, passionate animal lover, avid traveler / adventurer, and Blessed Child of God. Talia Elle Gazlay was a presence that could not go unnoticed. Her faith was stronger than fear, she was braver than a lion, and more stubborn than a mule, yet somehow gentle as a lamb. Talia’s love for her family, friends, community and care team knew no bounds. Even on her worst days you could count on Tali to crack a joke and bring a smile to your face. Her constant optimism was infectious and a source of wonder as well as inspiration to those around her. Talia was fiercely passionate about all animals, the environment and wildlife conservation. She developed deep friendships and impacted many while attending University at Eckerd College and working her dream jobs at the John G Shedd Aquarium, The Chicago Lincoln Park Zoo and Centaman. She was an accomplished flautist, dominant water polo & swim captain, gifted scholar and a proud Chicago Bears Super Fan. While away from her work and many travels, Talia cherished her time with family and friends in Door County Wisconsin. Her love of life was illuminated by her faith in God. Her remarkable kindness and compassion inspired everyone that she encountered, and her brilliant, beautiful light shines on through those lucky enough to bask in her glow. She lived life with an attitude of gratitude and continues to inspire us all to do the same. Services will be private. Dear and greatly loved Gazlay family, We are deeply saddened by the news of Talia's passing. What an incredible person she was! She touched the life of each and everyone that knew her with her deep level of trust in God, her genuineness, her sense of humor, her ability to understand matters of life, people and herself, her playfulness, her intelligence, her beauty and so much more! We could go on and on. We are grateful to know that she is no longer suffering in her body and that she's enjoying the awesome presence of her Creator and Redeemer! What more could she or any of us want for ourselves! However this time of earthly separation is really difficult. May The Lord comfort you all with His loving presence and surround you with those who give you the time, space and friendship you need for grieving.

Love,

Herb and Lillian Lang

Words do not come, nor even form, the depth of all of our pain and loss with the transcending of this truly angelic being from our presence is beyond human comprehension,
For whatever it is worth to all of you, I also feel to the deepest depth of my being, that which you are all experiencing at this

Dear Gazlay Family,
My sincerest condolences on Talia’s passing. I had the good fortune to meet Talia in 2010, when we both began work at Lincoln Park Zoo. Talia brought warmth and laughter wherever she went. I truly enjoyed working with her. Her energy and passion for wildlife conservation, her good nature, and her exuberance fill my memories of the time we worked together. I especially remember the days when she was able to join me for fieldwork, when she spent the day in the rain with a smile on her face the entire time. She spent her time working toward things she truly cared about, and that is an admirable way to live. She will be missed by all whose lives she touched. May her memory be a blessing.
Sincerely,
Allison Sacerdote-Velat

Dear Gazlay Family,

I went to high school with Talia. We always had mutual good friends and I’d always see her at parties and gatherings. She was always so incredibly kind and caring, I loved being in her presence. To know Talia is truly to love her. We last spoke over the phone this past May. Her voice was so bright and kind. She spoke so highly of her lil nephew. She knew I also have a son around his age and spoke at length about how much joy these little guys bring to our lives. At the end of the conversation, I told her I loved her and apologized for being so random. She was so kind and gracious and said it back to me. For that and much more, I will be forever grateful. It is an honor to know her. Sending everyone so much love and condolences.
