OBITUARY
We are heartbroken to share that our dear Eliahu “Allie” Hershel Karbal, 34, of Chicago, IL passed away. Allie was born on May 29, 1988, and died on December 3rd of liver failure, after an 8-year struggle following a liver transplant. Allie is survived by his mother Jan Zausmer (Rabbi Michael Schorin), father Bruce Karbal (Mary), and sweet sweet brothers Aryeh Karbal (Naomi Kurtz), Shlomo Karbal (Dashiell Bark-Huss), and Mickey Karbal. Allie was a resourceful entrepreneur in the luxury industry, working for years beside the Miller brothers. He knew something about pretty much everything; from science to the stock market, fitches to billiards, and IT to art, making him a great friend to talk with. Allie had a brilliant mind and an innate understanding of how things worked; he was the go-to brother to fix everything and anything when it broke. He loved fishing and camping at Apple Canyon and was always the first one to catch a frog. Allie had a wicked smart sense of humor and innately knew how to find a way into your heart. He would beat you in poker one minute, and then ask for a sandwich to clear the debt. Allie will be sorely missed by all of us who were lucky enough to know him. May his memory be for a blessing. Services were held. Interment at Sunset Memorial Lawns in Northbrook. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to JUF Chicago - who provided camp scholarships to the boys.
