Irene was always a bright light when we were together. Also, she a was first rate hugger.
Art, I don't get around the way I used to, but I am here in Evanston. If you need a change of scene come visit.

Sending lots of love and memories of my sweet cousin,Irene. I can’t really remember a time in my life that Irene wasn’t a part of. I can remember sleeping over many years ago and watching Haystacks Calhoun on TV and singing and dancing around the house. She was a talent even then. She was really good at trying to keep family together and I appreciate Irene for that (as I had moved far away). Irene will always stay in my heart as I know you will carry her with you.

My condolences to Irene's entire family. I've known Irene's since I was a little girl. She was always so kind, sweet, and caring. My fondest memory of her was when we paired up to do a talent show at our elementary school summer camp called Social Center. She was the one who had a great singing voice and I only pretended to. Irene was a light on this earth that will be truly missed.

Art,
So sorry about Irene. She was wonderful and friendly, and always ready to laugh at my terrible jokes.
I’ll miss her.
When I’m in town, we’ll get together.

Irene and I met in 1972 in Steger, Illinois, where we were neighbors in our apartment complex, and we were both teaching at Crete Monee Elementary School. It was my first and Irene’s second year of teaching.

Irene helped me navigate through that first year, and we had an instant connection that has lasted 50 years!

She and Arthur were a couple, as were Kim and I. We went through weddings and babies, then children, and grandchildren together.

Irene always wrote wonderful letters and, later, e-mails and texts that kept me up to date on her life; I tried to do the same.
If I had not answered one of her messages in awhile, I heard about it and got busy giving her an account of what was going on with my family.

She was always such a wonderful friend, wife, mother and grandmother. I will miss her, but know she is at peace

Thoughts and prayers, love and blessings to Arthur, Jennifer, Melisa and family.

Sending my heartfelt condolences. Irene was not only a classmate of mine but my youngest son’s preschool teacher. True to her personality, she was warm, loving and a wonderful teacher although way over qualified. May her memories be a blessing.

Art,
I was shocked when I heard this. I truly don’t know what to say. As many times, as I have had to respond to things like this in my 45 years of practicing medicine, I still don’t know what to say. I can only assure you that you have a lot of people who love and care for you and are thinking of you right now. I am one of those people.

Hope to see you at Irwin‘s birthday.
Love,
(the other) Art
