OBITUARY

Carole Drexler nee Silverman, age 82

Beloved wife of Morton Drexler for almost 63 years. Dear mother of Mark (Sara) Drexler, David (Tonya) Drexler, Rachel (Rick) Winer, and the late Debra Sibert. Proud grandmother of Krystal (David) Bremer, Karli Sibert, Aaron (Carly) Drexler, Coby (Kayla) Drexler, Rikki Drexler, Aidan (Brianna Bolivar) Drexler, Ari Drexler, Neo Drexler, Ava Winer, Emma Winer, and Jonah Winer. Cherished great-grandmother of Elijah, Evelyn, Aubrie, Ellie, and Noah. Loving sister of Shirley Silverman and the late Loretta Becker.

Carole was a lifelong learner whose curiosity, creativity, and determination shaped every chapter of her life. A proud graduate in the field of education, she began her career as a primary school teacher. After dedicating herself to raising her children, she returned to the workforce and built a successful career as a computer programmer, first at Sears and then at Allstate, where she worked for 22 years. Ahead of her time in both finance and technology, she also managed the family finances and participated in an investment club with enthusiasm and skill.

Above all, Carole was a loving and devoted wife and mother who encouraged her children to grow, explore, and be creative. She never missed a game, sporting event, or opportunity to support her family. Artistic and adventurous, she loved painting and continued pursuing her passion through classes at the Art Institute and later throughout her retirement in Sun City, Arizona. She especially cherished being “Nana” to her grandchildren. Adventurous and energetic, she loved taking them on hikes, swimming, and exploring new places, creating memories they will carry with them always. She made a profound impact on her grandchildren in their early years, even as those connections became more difficult later as her memory began to decline.

Warm, kind, generous, and endlessly positive, Carole formed lasting friendships wherever she went and brought joy to all who knew her. Her warmth, resilience, and loving spirit will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

I have such fond memories of Carole from when Mark and I were at Walker School together and later when she began her next adventure as a computer programmer. I always enjoyed the time I spent in her home, first in Evanston and then in Northbrook. May her memory be a blessing.
