Lois Hass nee Robin, age 93

Beloved wife of the late Moshe Hass. Dear mother of Shauna (Michael) Gilman, David (Susan Jaffee) Levine, and Rick (Kathy Halper) Levine. Loving grandmother of Sara (Steven) DuBois, Laura (Zev) Feiger, Madeleine Levine, Isabelle (Yi-wen Lai-Tremewan) Levine, and Henry Levine. Proud great-grandmother of Rebecca Feiger, Jacob (Jack) Feiger, Miriam DuBois, Benjamin Feiger, Ilan Feiger, Noam DuBois, Yishai Feiger, Aviva DuBois, and Jonah Feiger. Fond stepmother of Dorit (the late Joseph) Ringelstein and Zehava (William) Frankel; and step-grandmother of their children Shimrit, Rachel, Yair, Eitan, and Naomi. Dear sister of the late Rita (the late Myron) Newman.

Lois loved a party. She never wanted to miss one. She was always happy to plan one and sorry to leave one. She was outgoing and loved to talk and laugh. Lois had a sharp wit, a deep intellect, and a passion for culture. She saw theatre, attended the symphony, visited museums, read books and the New York Times and New Yorker Magazine from cover to cover. Lois was a member of the Joseph Jefferson Awards Committee, where she attended many Chicago theatre performances to be considered for the prestigious Jeff Award.

Lois loved to share her knowledge. She was a docent at multiple Chicago art museums and taught at Roosevelt University and Oakton Community College. She led many book club groups for adults, as well as Junior Great Books for children. Lois enjoyed babies and dogs and claimed that they were her biggest fans. She met the love of her life in Moshe Hass and spent eleven blissful years, until his untimely death, traveling the world with him. She continued to stay busy and curious in later life with her many friends. As her family grew, she got tremendous joy from her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Graveside service Wednesday 1 PM at Memorial Park Cemetery, 9900 Gross Point Rd, Skokie, Illinois 60076.
