Beloved husband of the late Thelma Lee Karson nee Kempner. Cherished partner of Ethel Holzman. Loving father of Sari Karson Kurland, Jay (Mia) Karson and Ward (Marion) Karson, and the late Matthew (Leah) Karson. Proud grandfather of Benjamin Kurland, Evan (Delaney) Kurland, Kara (Michael Morrel) Kurland, Lily Karson, Tovi Karson, Romi Karson, Dane Karson, Tatum Karson and Mercy Karson. Fond great-grandfather of Baylor, Emerson and Hastings. Dear brother of Sally (the late Willard) Aaron, the late Lila (the late Edward) Grossman and the late William (the late Emmy) Karson. Service Friday 12 noon at Chicago Jewish Funerals, 8851 Skokie Blvd (at Niles Center Road), Zolman. Interment Westlawn Cemetery. Dear Karsen family,
We know Marty from the Grove in Boynton Beach. Your dad was a sweet, kind hardworking gentleman .
He was a huge asset to the community working on many committees and also giving devoted time as president of our POD.
We will truly miss Marty.

I met Marty when I was 19 years old and he became like a second father to me. My memories of him are vast, always filled with love and laughter. He was the ultimate optimist, always seeing the joy in life no matter what came his way. His love and devotion to his family was most important and that stayed true his entire life. I really respected that. I will always cherish the times we spent together, and I will miss him greatly. I send my love to the entire family. We have lost a true mensch and gentleman.

Steve and I feel so blessed to have been friends with Marty and family for more 50 years .. Beginning with our NCJW wives and husband’s and children fundraising projects and then, years later coincidentally in Florida when we bumped into Ethel and Marty while they were ‘buying out all the stock’ of Kleenex for Ethel at the Dollar Tree!
Our reconnecting was “beshert” - meant to be. Our wonderful bond is forever cherished!

We have been friends with Ethel and Marty for the last 14 years. We met while living at The Grove in Boynton Beach Florida. Our friendship was instant and we became more like family. We spent all our holidays together many Saturday evenings, enjoying each other’s company.. We had many wonderful discussions telling stories of each other’s lives. We will miss Marty terribly. He was a wonderful friend loving warm, helpful, and kind., It’s like missing a member of your family. May his memory be a blessing and may he rest in peace. We love you, Marty, Marlene and Herbie Victor.
