OBITUARY

Evelyn "Evie" Goldberg - nee Kirschner, age 95

Beloved wife of the late Harvey Goldberg. Loving mother of David (Minetta Wallingford) Rubin, Rhonda (Roger Klaus) Rubin-Klaus and Steve Rubin. Cherished grandmother of Rachel Heaton, Russell Klaus, Anthony Rubin, Michael Rubin, Lindsay Morgan and Alex Rubin. Adoring great-grandmother of fourteen.

Evie grew up in the Lawndale area, where she attended Marshall High School. She was an only child but considered her close cousins as siblings who she loved dearly. As a teenager, she spent many hours after school helping her mother in the family’s children’s clothing store. This was the start of her outstanding work ethic. She would often spend time with her father on Saturdays going to the factory where her dad did tailor work. Sadly, she lost her loving dad at the young age of 17. She went on to have a career with Callaghan & Co, a law book publishing company and worked in a variety of positions as a valuable employee. All the departments appreciated her dedication. She worked there until she retired. Evelyn was a very social person and had so many friends throughout the years. In her retirement years, she loved travel, dancing and playing games. Evelyn always had a fashionable sense of style and displayed excellent interior design skills. Evelyn would always dress up for any occasion, either a night going out on the town or just heading to the grocery store. She will be greatly missed and remembered by family and friends.

Evie was a beautiful person inside and out. Always so warm and sweet and gracious. I remember working with her at Callahan. I remember talking to her all through the years at family parties. At Roger’s 70 th birthday party, she seemed as energetic as always. I asked her what was her secret and she said simply to get up and move. May her memories be a blessing and keep her close in your heart.
