Holly and Larry Faems, Ellen’s brother and sister-in-law, are simply crushed by the news of young Benny’s passing. Tears HAVE been shed over his loss.

I don’t know how many times we told his grandmother, Ellen, “Poor little guy! ALL he wants to do is go home and have some quality time with Mom and Dad.” He never got that chance which was so unfair to us.

Benny put up the good fight to survive. We KNOW this because he had a personality regarding what he liked and disliked. CPAPs were not his favorite thing by any means. He tried to make sure he didn’t have to use the CPAP. We were cheering him on to fight that dreaded CPAP, get well and go home.

We do hope that he had a lot of angels around him in the Neonatal ICU. Perhaps that meant that he got to have much more love than most other babies get. Bless those angels for caring so much.

Holly and I would like to offer our shoulders, to cry on, our arms, to hold you up, and our prayers that Nate and Gabby will, someday, get to play with Benny in heaven.

Dear Benny
Know that you are loved .Know that you were a joy to your Mother and Father . Gabby and Nathan know that our hearts are with you .Rochelle and Gus we will remember how you danced and sang with Benny. Benny your parents made sure that we understood how important you are , no two better parents have we ever met. Gabby, we will never forget how you made every day count. We are so glad that you never listened to us and stayed by Benny’s bedside. I wish I would’ve encouraged it more and I smile remembering how you were always holding him. . Gabby and Nathan it was an honor to care for your precious son. I pray that we provided you with many memories as your Respiratory Lurie Family.

My late mother’s favorite memory of her mother was her lighting Shabbat candles and saying the blessing. Benny was the littlest candle but he cast an unmistakable light in his short time with his parents. He was a blessing to all. RIP Benessimo.

On behalf of Sacred Heart School, we are sending our strongest prayers for “Miss Gabby” and her family. Gabby was our speech/ language path and has made such an impact and influence in such a short time here. Our students adore her, our teachers love her, and she is such a beautiful person, inside and out. From day 1, Benny was on our all school prayer list. We prayed for him and kept special intentions both out loud and always in our hearts. Please know that this will continue for the entire family, even when school lets out for summer. There is no doubt in our minds that Benny was a gift and was special, because, as we knew Gabby, she was the same! Her infectious smile and laughter and her sweet ways of speaking with children is just who she is, and how she would be as a Mom.
Gabby and Family: Sacred Heart School loves you. We are holding you and Benny in our hearts, and we know the Lord is holding Benny tight in the palm of His hand. Sending love, strength and grace now and for the future.
Sincerely - the Faculty, Staff, and community of Sacred Heart School in Winnetka❤️
