OBITUARY

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Lee A. Gould, CPA, JD, on May 21, 2025. A founding partner of Gould and Pakter, Lee dedicated his professional life as a forensic accountant, bringing diligence, integrity, and passion to his work. Loving son of Michael (Donna) Gould and Rochelle (Floyd) Nadler, Lee was preceded in death by his parents, who instilled in him the values of hard work and compassion.

Lee's lifelong struggle with Crohn's disease led him to actively support research initiatives for inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). His unwavering dedication to his profession resulted in helping to create scholarships for aspiring CPAs. These causes reflected his belief in making a positive impact on society.

Lee believed that there is” always happiness if you look for it” and didn’t let his illness take all of his away.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Cathy, and his two sons, Erik (Sheryl) and Geoff (Marie) Gould, who admired their father for his professional accomplishments and his legacy of love and kindness. Lee is also survived by his stepson, Adam Bialy; his grandchildren Derek, Dawson, and Layla Gould; his sister Linda (Glenn) Baker; and his brother, Larry (Suzanne) Gould. Lee shared a lifelong bond with his dear friend and business partner of 40 years, Michael Pakter. He also treasured his close friendship with Mike Inouye for many years. Numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins will fondly remember him.

A memorial service will be held to celebrate Lee’s life and achievements Monday, May 26, 2:00 PM Chicago Jewish Funerals, 8851 Skokie Boulevard (at Niles Center Road).

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the University of Chicago Gastrointestinal Research Foundation, www.giresearchfoundation.org.

As Lee’s fitness trainer and friend…I feel blessed to
have had Lee in my life. His daily corny jokes made me smile (he knew they were my fav!). His positive, kind and “others oriented” spirit will always hold a special place in my heart.
