Funeral Details

Dorothy Friedman nee Lehrer, formerly of Hyde Park, Illinois, and most recently of Los Angeles, California, passed away surrounded by the love of her family.

Dorothy's life was defined by resilience, gratitude, and an unwavering spirit. Born in Poland during the Holocaust, she survived the hardships of World War II and spent five years in a displaced persons camp before immigrating to the United States with her family. She rarely spoke of those years, but they shaped her lifelong appreciation for family, freedom, and her Jewish heritage.

Beginning school at age 13, Dorothy embraced every opportunity to learn, eventually earning a master's degree in psychology from the University of Illinois. She later moved to Northern California, where she worked in industrial relations during the early years of Silicon Valley, helping communities understand the rapid technological changes transforming the region. After marrying, Dorothy happily devoted herself to raising the family she had always wanted. Her love for family, Israel, and her Jewish identity remained central throughout her life.

Dorothy was the beloved mother of Thomas Friedman, Gillian (Abram) Nalibotsky, and Ross Friedman; cherished grandmother of Justin, Dylan, Michael Friedman, and Remy, Mila, and Philip Nalibotsky; beloved daughter of the late Rose (née Nusbaum) and Marcus Lehrer; and sister of the late Norman (Nancy) Lehrer. She leaves behind a legacy of perseverance, optimism, faith, and unconditional love.
